Keep FK8 or DC5?
Discussion
I'm struggling. I thought it would be an easy choice, that being the Integra. The FK8 is brilliant and I love it, but the DC5 is just, special. One needs to go as I'm conspiring to marry Miss Badger, plus savings and home improvements etc etc, so one definitely has to go. I'm hugely fortunate to own both, and I was going to put the Integra up for sale at the weekend but couldn't. It's nigh on immaculate, low mileage with some lovely Mugen and Spoon bits.

I loved my DC5; only had it 18 months and did a lot to it in that time (and then undid it to sell on and use the funds for a house deposit as I didn't want to drain my savings)!I get the pull of them; but for me nowadays; I'd rather have a more modern/capable car rather than an older, more 'special' car - unless (which we know you don't want to) keep both and run one more as a weekend car
Thing is; both markets are strong, you'll sell either easy enough IMO - which will fetch the best £££ / which will be an easier/less hassle sale / which will you use the most, as it stands?
They're what need answering IMO and then that should give you the avenue to follow
Plus we all know how the DC5s love to fizz in the rain with their age; this is a risk, and you don't want to be chasing your tail when the tinworm kicks in IMO

Decent Integra's are hard to find at a sensible price. My son is nosing for one but need to do more research and I need to sort the garage for it to go in. Heading to Japfest in Castle Coombe to do more of that researching as pretty rare. Any forums we should look on etc to help us ?

I think the FK8 is the one to sell.
A decent DC5 is only going to get rarer and in turn likely more valuable. The FK8 on the other hand still likely to devalue and more common.
Get the deed done and it will be much easier/cheaper to jump back into an FK8 than it would be a DC5

I wouldnt even be able to comprehend selling the DC5. As others have said it will dissolve quite quickly and you'll get tired of it if you have to daily drive it though.
If the remaining car had to be a daily driver I would still sell the FK8, and buy a £1k banger safe in the knowledge that the timescale that you keep said banger the vale of the 'teg has probably gone up enough to cover the cost.

Worse problems to have, eh!
Depends how you use them I reckon. If the FK8 is the daily and the DC5 comes out on high days and holidays, I'd be tempted to sell the Integra as the Civic is still pretty special for a spin out on a summer's afternoon. If you use the Integra regularly, it's reliable and you have access to another car to save the Integra from tip runs and such, I'd sell the Civic. Or sell the Civic, buy a cheap runaround and pocket the rest. Then of course it depends on how much you like each one, and how much cash you want; without any further details, the FK8 is probably worth more for the time being.
I have an older fast Honda and my next car will probably be a newer, faster Honda but I do often think... "Why bother? This things great". That is of course before the rust finds it's way in....

Yes this is where I kind of stand at the moment, the Civic is the daily and the Integra is the second car for warm sunny days etc. Its better at the practical things, although the Integra has a massive boot. It's the day in day out all weather running that will be bad for it, but like someone else said, I could just get a boring runaround I guess, but part of the plan was only having to worry about one car in terms of servicing, insurance, maintenance etc. Depends how you use them I reckon. The post saying sell the most easily replaceable one keeps playing on my mind though.

Jst keep both of you can. Life is too short. I know it’s not a DC5 but I love my DC2, every drive is an experience & its performance level is such that you can enjoy it safely & sensibly.
Just this week I had the Tesco man raving about the DC5 on the driveway, followed by a young guy taking tons of photos and looking around it for about 10 minutes while parked at Costa Coffee. The FK8 gets lots of attention too, but not as much as the Integra, but it seems particularly lately the Teg is getting lots of love just as it's coming to selling time

As someone who's wanted an Integra since I was a teenager and still doubt I can afford one, and who's also sold cars that got positive attention and were more of a 'heart over head' prospect, I'd say keep the DC5 and see if you can make it work - it's going to be far less painful to regret selling the sensible car than the one you have more of an emotional connection to. Maybe you could then just buy a cheaper runaround for daily duties, but either way finding another sensible car is going to be far easier than finding another DC5!
