0a's 2010 Kyanite Blue Jaguar XFR
Discussion
I'm lucky enough to own an E92 V8 M3 with a manual gearbox. A year ago I'd been looking at Jaguar XFRs, but when forum member TyrannosauRoss Lex posted in the chat place all the research and his thinking about E9X M3s, I decided that the M3 was the way to go at that point in time - for one thing it felt like the XFRs would fall a bit further in value than M3s. I have loved my year with the M3, and will be keeping it.
M3 reader ride is here.
A roadtrip to Italy scheduled for July this year provided an excuse to revisit the XFR though (auto, more comfy than the M3 etc, the usual man maths), so I picked this up today. A few photos from the ad:
It's a pre-facelift Jaguar XFR in Kyanite blue - not a colour I have ever seen before. I love it. It has a cream interior. I must admit that the interior put me off a little, but after seeing it in person it works really well. These have the Jaguar 510bhp 5.0 supercharged V8 which is quite an engine, and the car is on 83k.
A quick review as posted on the chat: the colour is lovely in person, very deep blue, seller claimed 1/24 worldwide. Nice bloke. Works for a classic car restoration business so I figured he’d be fussy about the car, and it would be pretty good which it is. Drive wise - I was actually a bit intimidated by it at first as it’s bloody fast and the brakes feel sensitive. Lexus LS430 with a firmer ride when you’re pottering. Then it all goes a bit mad. Significantly faster than the M3. Very easy and pleasant to drive. Despite being a bit of a knob, I averaged 27mpg on the 120 miles home. Brakes just a little bit warpey feeling coming to a stop. Driver’s seat would benefit from a deep leather clean; all the cream interiored cars seem to show the same. In pleased. Massive value.
The owner was a real gent. Works for a high end classic car restoration place, so as expected the car is in great condition. He washed and polished the car this morning prior to me turning up. Now that's a proper seller!
I'm really pleased with it. A few of my photos (sorry I'm no photographer!).
The M3 is staying - two very different ways of doing the V8 thing!

That looks a fabulous example. Stately, yet bonkers!
A great way to describe it. I took my Dad out in it earlier. Pootling, it reminds me of a slightly firmer version of my old Lexus LS430, very comfy and quiet. Then you give it the beans and it turns the world! An amusing old thing. These (even this one) are really inexpensive now. Performance bargains.

I was looking at that car however the light interior put me off, I'd wreck it within a week!
Well done, at least I can enjoy it through you!
I was the same, and enquired about this car with that in mind (I'd really like an offensive red interior). Well done, at least I can enjoy it through you!
Having bought the car it looks better than it photographs. And more fun the cream interior totally fits the under the radar "my mum likes it" disguising the car as a regular car.
Lovely cars - had one for 4 years and it was an ownership experience of two halves. First half absolutely immense, stuck a set of back boxes on it which tuned the noise up to 11. Made 593bhp on a dyno day, and felt ballistic in a straight line.
Second half not so good thanks to timing chain tensioners going pop and the engine needing to be changed. Fortunately it was under warranty. Unfortunately the dealership doing the work weren’t the best at putting the new engine in. I’d still own another - hopefully when they’ve dropped a bit more!

I've always loved these, although I think I'd prefer the facelift for the 8 speed gearbox.
They're great value, significantly cheaper than the equivalent XKR and more practical.
Don't all get interested in these, I need prices to stay low!
The 6 speed ZF is surprisingly good and will not change up on its own if you are using the flappy pedals, so you get to tuck the nose in a bit in a corner with a bit of engine braking. They're great value, significantly cheaper than the equivalent XKR and more practical.

The prices of the SV8 4.2l supercharged v8 are pretty soft if you need to compromise on the initial price and 100bhp, although you might save the difference in fuel economy with the 8 speed.
