Our new to us Mito
Discussion

Picked this little Mito 1.4TB Sportavia today, haven’t had an Alfa for many years, far too long. We were in need of a stop gap as the Mrs Evoque Hybrid doesn’t arrive until July and her Mini Clubman S was a butt clenching panic whenever we saw a pot hole. Cracked 3 alloys in 12 months 19” alloys and 35 section is a bad idea, so got rid of it this week. Sad end to her Mini experience this was her 3rd one as no issues with the first two.
If you have a tiny budget getting something which hasn’t got big miles on or questionable history on it is harder than I was excepting, that coupled with phones not being answered. But managed to find this and I’m quite pleased. 2013 with 75000 miles good history, 2 owner and long MOT for £2600
Buying a warranty for it for the Mrs piece of mind other than a little curbing to one wheel it’s in really good condition inside and out.
Hopefully in a few months time we won’t take a massive hit, although middle son has asked if he can use it over the summer when home from University, we will see.
We had a manual 155hp one, was a 2009 so an early one. It was a cracking little thing, but eventually had to go due to corrosion costing more to repair than it was worth. After about 8 years with it, the time had come for a bigger car, so bought a Giuletta.
The Mito was quite firm and responded very sharply, as well as clinging on, so really did feel like a go cart. Mechanical reliability was excellent too, never had a single engine light come on in about 100k miles.
We did get through bushings and top mounts quickly, as well as headlight bulbs. The brakes lasted forever and tyres wore well, likely as the car is pretty light weight.
We had an issue with the power steering cutting out at low speed every so often. Often when parking or pulling out of junctions. Not fun, but the car always remained drivable (just). Never got to the bottom of this one. We also had the bearing wear in the gearbox sorted, Google M32 gearbox and you'll find out. Easily resolved though if it becomes an issue (possibly already done).
Great little car and astonishing value for money

Zipped over to York from Leeds this morning all good but then at low speed in a car park the power steering warning came on and no assistance.
Parked it up and left it a couple of hours no issue, read lots today about the battery is the culprit. I know it’s been stood a few weeks and the chap said he just put on new battery on, going to check he has put the right one on.

New battery did not solve ours unfortunately. We never got to the bottom of it before it went. When it goes, restarting the car would resolve it temporarily. It only ever happened at low speed maneuvering.Parked it up and left it a couple of hours no issue, read lots today about the battery is the culprit. They are notorious for this, it's a sensor in the power steering, you have to replace the power steering column or have your own rebuilt, we had ours rebuilt. cost £150 quid if I remember correctly but it's a right ballache to remove and refit.Parked it up and left it a couple of hours no issue, read lots today about the battery is the culprit.
