Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde (Launch edition)

It's been quite a bit of time for me. But it's new car time again..
After a bit of time with the iPace, it's not really suiting really, shorter distances it's fine, but longer distances are just a bit of a faff, and spent thinking about changing, or charging it. I did know this, but it's more than I thought. Also the reliability has not been great. It's currently waiting for some new cells for the battery. As soon as that's completed I'll sell (also before it goes down in value any more. Also I'm not using the GTV as much as I would like, so that's for sale sadly.
Also down size slightly, inside think of the Golf GTi, but wanted to keep with the Alfa brand, I did originally want a Guilia of some kind, but then remembered the Giulietta. In particular, the Quadrifoglio Verde, with the 4Cs engine and gearbox. They didn't get favourable reviews at the time, but Harry Metcalfe reviewed one against the GTi and loved it. That was good enough for me!
I went in search of a Launch Edition. This gets a numbered plaque, carbon body parts, and black body parts, and anthracite horse shoe wheels (they would look good in bronze!) from what I've read, there was 100 launch editions for the UK, this is number 45. It seems to have some upgraded brakes. I looked at one in Matte grey, which was high mileage and very tired, then went to see this Red one at a car sourcing company, it was immaculate, with a nice folder of work completed. I've chatted to the ex owner on the Giulietta Facebook page as well.
The collection was lovely, the 2 guys who run the company were great to deal with, picking me up from Burton upon Trent station.
The car goes very well indeed, it has the 1.75 4C engine, and 241hp. This has the optional Ascari exhaust from Veloces in London, so sounds brilliant. Lovely direct fast steering. And brand new Toyo T1Rs. Also the previous owner put the facelift grill on.
I'm very much looking forward to trying it out on some decent roads.
It also managed 40mpg on the way home.
Really pleased with it.

One thing you need to do asap is get the inner sills wax oiled/lanoguarded.
Work colleague has a 60 plate Giulietta and it’s just been condemned due to sill rust that was invisible at the last MOT but is now visible and will be a failure next time around.
He’s a bit gutted as he was planning on swapping his other car this year but now needs to part ex the Alfa before the MOT runs out.

Yes he’s spent quite alot of money on it in the last couple of years, including bodywork to fix a nice scrape down the side that someone left on it in a carpark, new multiair unit etc. It’s a good car but it’s only worth about £3500 tops and if he starts getting it fixed chances are the job will become bigger and bigger as the rot is hiding well out of sight for a good while before it becomes visibleThat's a shame about your colleagues one, and for that age as well.

Certainly a shame, and didn't need the car park scrape either! Ah yes, I had read about issues with the Multi air on them sometimes
I was looking at the 170hp variant.
I will definitely get that looked at, is that something I would be able to do?

It should be doable - just depends how easily any access holes are to get to - not sure if the skirts need to come offAh yes, I had read about issues with the Multi air on them sometimes

Already managed to brake it..
The center dash cubby snapped when I went to get my sun glasses out
This snapped off
I'm going to try some Gorilla contact adhesive to see if I can glue that back on. New items aren't cheap!
I took it on a favourite road today, its great fun, quite a bit of torque steer when the boost comes in, but that adds to the fun. Also, being able to head the turbo spool up.
The exhaust sounds brilliant as well.
The center dash cubby snapped when I went to get my sun glasses out

I did look at the diesel as well, but I mainly do shorter trips, the 159 2.0D didn't seem to like that!

Wife is the main user now, she does lots of short trips in 'A' mode... I go out at least once a week in it and thrash it I 'D'...

I've been surprised how much D makes to the steering, lovely steering weight.

I've got one going cheap, it opens but doesn't pop up as one of the spring went missing. The clips are honestly a pile of ste and a replacement box is about £120 for a dealer.The center dash cubby snapped when I went to get my sun glasses out
