I've been struggling with what to replace my high mile Alpina D3 with. It's too low for my new role really, as it requires me to be a bit more out and about on sites etc.
Natural choice was to sell the Alpina for a new RR or Taycan Cross Turismo on lease. The old me would have done that in a heart beat. I even went as far as finding and getting quotes on my ideal spec Taycan at Porsche Hull.
£2k a month just seemed an insane amount of money to burn doing 25k miles a year. All of the stuff I really liked was going to cost me at least £60k in depreciation over 4 years, and having done that once before with a new Range Rover, I didn't really have the heart to do it again.
So what to do. I need something 4wd, more ground clearance than the Alpina, which fits the dog in, low depreciation, cheapish to run.
Enter Yaris GR. The Alpina's new mate! It kinda does everything and it is more than cheap enough to run alongside the Alpina.
Collected it yesterday. Circuit Edition in solid white.

This mornings commute was its first job.
Luckily the dog fits well.
The car was phenomenal, the weather was abysmal and it just flew along. Traction is something else and the little 1.6 is so punchy.
Got to the office as the sun was coming up. Even after a spirited run, it had returned 32.8mpg on the journey!

Yes. No problem. Very sensible.I've been struggling with what to replace my high mile Alpina D3 with. It's too low for my new role really, as it requires me to be a bit more out and about on sites etc.

Right decision, I’m sure you’ll have an absolute blast in the Yaris, and it will be significantly cheaper to run than the aforementioned.
This year i moved to a daily manual (alongside the auto family car) and have no regrets, it just makes most driving better.
Taycan depreciation does now make them an interesting used proposition. It wouldn’t replace my fun car but I would love a Cross Turismo to serve as the family wagon.

I figure in 3 years, one of the last of the current gen Taycan will be a great buy at around £45/£50k. Just not for the £105k (after 14% discount!!) they are now. This year i moved to a daily manual (alongside the auto family car) and have no regrets, it just makes most driving better.

misleading thread title was expecting crashed yaris running gear, shoehorend into a proace city or soming like that!
nice buy though, the yaris gr has really got my attention. im really tempted by one. especial seeing how quick they are on track. probably an even better all rounder than my 208 bps. still out of my budget tho.

Great little cars.
Even if it is it still needs doing. scottos said:
Although a service every 6k is a little tiring, it may be for you doing 25k a year!
Didn't realise they were high maintenance? Hopefully Toyota being over cautious. ecsrobin said:
