This is almost a similar story to my RS Megane but not quite as extreme but my little Twingo has been tucked away in storage.

I bought this new in 2010 having owned a Clio 172 and still owning a Megane 225 but the 133 really caught my eye. Then when they announced the Gordini I had to have one. Oddly the Gordini wasn't made faster but they obviously styled it white/blue but then added a full leather interior and some other features like climate control and the upgraded the stereo.

So it's been stored away these last four years at a car storage facility but now I've moved house, I have a space in the garage for it. My friend transported it for me and finally I managed to clean it and get some nice pictures together.

Interiors fairly basic, more so on the Cup models but nice enough. Very upright seating and steering wheel.

They only sold 200 of these in the UK, they were numbered as they came out of the factory but this is number 110 off the production line.

Will be tucked away and left on charge for the winter. I'll look at servicing and what not in the new year hopefully.

Although not as powerful as the RS Clios, I'd be confident these handle as well if not better than the Clio 182 Cup. Also very reminiscent of the Renault 5, even the door handles are similar. Modest power, great handling and light.

It is very clean, I've kept protective mats over the originals. The mats aren't made any more so I'm pleased they're like new.

As for the Megane, I have a thread running on here : https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Believe it or not, the Twingo has less miles than that Megane! haha

Haha thanks, these were quite underrated cars at the time. A bit overshadowed by the other RS models and it's main rival the Fiat 500. I always felt that the Twingo was the underdog and that gave it some extra appeal.

Plus they made these fun and didn't take themselves too seriously. Don't get me wrong they're not built with sturdy German engineering, they are cheap and basic but I think they look great and they go so well.

Take this the right way, but I have to ask….what is the point?

Two cars that you basically don’t drive. I assume you’re not The Sultan of Brunei so why not sell and buy something you’ll use?

Haha I’m not offended by the question. I bought them originally with every intention of using. Then for various reasons (kids/house/work etc.) they got mothballed. The prices bottomed out and I had no reason to sell them, so just hung onto both. They’re now old and moderately interesting so I like having them.

I have other cars which I do use more regularly.

That’s very tidy indeed. How many miles has it done?

You probably know this already given your number of Renaults, but the cam belts on these need replacing on time, so yours will be due if you have had it in storage.

There is quite an active Twingo owners club on Facebook that do a couple of sprint days at Curborough a year if that is your sort of thing.

A whopping 1,218! haha

But like you say, both cars are overdue a cambelt change and full service in general really. Both have fresh oil and oil filter but to go on the road they'll need a fait bit more TLC.

I am part of the Twingo Owners Club on there, There's a lot of activity on there, a nice group too! smile

Oh yes I just saw your post. You didn’t mention the mileage else I’m sure there would have been a lot more comments!

Well I just wanted to share some pics but I suspect it's one of the lowers mileage examples in the country. I know another Alex has a liquid yellow MK1 133 with about 8k on it too.

I do like these RS twingos. They're just fun cars. I had a quick go in one and compared to my 172 they don't feel like they're a that much down in power.
And the seats are much better than the clio ones

This was my 133 , absolutely great cars and such great fun , it definitely proves you don’t need 300bhp in a hot hatch for it to be good

The ergonomics inside the 133 was much better than the 172/182s I felt despite being built on the same platform. I guess the 172 just feels like it has more revs in it but the handling I found made up for it.

The only thing with the 172 I found from having them was in the 'full fat' spec they had more options as standard. Couldn't get Xenons on the 133 but standard on the 172. Climate control was an option, standard stereo was awful but the upgraded one was pretty good.

That's a great colour choice too, despite press photos in that colour it wasn't very common.

Exactly that, modest power and good handling make for fun. Very similar to the likes of a Golf GTI MK1 or Peugeot 205 GTI.
