Fisher Fury, impuse buy!

Alright guys, i'm back with something interesting.
you might have followed me previous threads

current 208 gti bps track/fun car - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
disclaimer im heavily dsylexic, so if my grammer and spelling isnt on point I apolosise I have littreally no clue!
Ive got absolutely no idea what, i'm going to do with it. its was a total out of the blue impulse buy. i had a little bit of cash spare and then the SWMBO has decided she doesn't need a car any more. perfect timing, and i needed to act fast before she changed her mind.
i've known about furys for a long time, and alway thought the are far more attractive than the usual lotus 7 style cars. if you don't know what one is, imagine it as a lotus 7 with a 60s style aero body.
alright, so it's a little unusual, as it has a 1.6 fiat twin cam from a lancia delta i.e. mated to a fiat 131 gearbox. with a good old english axle at the back.
The car is reasonably well built. The kit was bought in 1996 but it wasn't ever registered until 2021. The car was 3 mins from my office. which was a bonus.
its got a few little issues, the diff is knackered. the pinion is toast. so i've already ordered a slightly shorted FD and LSD . it had a 3.89 fd and ad that would make it good for nigh on 150mph. i figured dropping in a 4.12 that brings it down to 130ish. will make it a little more peppy.
if the twincam make much more that 100bhp id be amazed.
the highlight tho wet this thing only weighs in at 570kg wet! (pretty heavy for one of these)
ideas chaps? another zetec, boost it to the moon? keep it simple with some carbs and a good port? apparently the later 16v heads bolt on to the block.
the other major niggle, is the throttle pedal being about 100mm in front of the brake pedal. and being manual the brake barely moves. i found out why!
i've disconnected it here, but that arm is abit of 5mm mild steel, at about 100mm long with nothing but hopes and dreams holding it in. no wonder its bent. so currently halfway through making an adjustable quadrant with a stop so i don't break the throttle cable.
current state of it, i've only driven it home, having 205 flashbacks at least i new there were issues to fix on this one .
best bit it fits in the garage mint, there's about half a meter to where the door should be at the front. i can walk all the way around it, its bliss
SWMBO will struggle to clamp down now mini SWMBO is hooked!

I've built a couple of kits, first one was a Sylva leader, which was designed by Jeremy Philips, who then did the Fisher Fury. I've always loved the shape of these and the Ginetta G33. Looks like a lot of fun, and just right now winter's coming.
No clue what you're laughing at! I've got a roof for it It looks about as much use as putting my coat over the roll bar 🤣

2.0 Duratec. MX-5 5 speed. Keep the rear axle.
190bhp for around £1500 all in. (and some spannering effort from you)
Yeah this is very tempting as i believe that the twin cam might be worth about of money to the right crowd. 190bhp for around £1500 all in. (and some spannering effort from you)
Consult my previous threads for the my level of spannering
Alright first little update.
Tried to fit the quadrant with using the old bar as a wood ruff key. But the through bar snapped as the Hole in it was too big.
Don't Judge this wasn't going to be the final version it was going to be a temporary to get a feel for the car and descide what I'm doing.
But now the pedal box has to come out either way. So I thought fk it.
Don't judge my welds I think that will hold for now and at least I can get the pedal in a position to heel and toe.
Will get some paint on it tomorrow.
Progress will be slow next week as I'm waiting on the diff parts and that is beyond my tools and skills to rebuild properly .

I don't know that's alot of dark magic what do they weigh I've always had it in my head there heavy.
Honestly, 95% of what you hear about rotaries is crap - they are simple, easy to work on and nothing like as fragile as imagined if you treat them right. (When cold, drive it like its broken, once warmed up - drive it like its stolen)In terms of weight a 13B N/A bare block is going to come in around 80-85kg, which is comparable to a lot of 4 pots and lighter than most. (No idea what the little italian lump weighs though?)
I've watched enough rob dahm to roughly have my head around them. But it's a hell of a step. Was going to ask what a healthy one would set me back.
But actually makes sense to get one with the apex seal failure for cheaps, as it really doesn't look that hard to rebuild one.
And I can stash that and collect the parts to bang it in.

Nice colour! Nice engine. I think a green one may have passed my abode this week.
Don't hold your breath, my day job is vinyl wrapping. So I'm already thinking up plans. If the lancia engine is staying very tempted by an dirty looking end of race alitalia livery, to keep the lancia theme.. might just wrap it purple tho.

This sounds like a plan to me. 2.0 Duratec are very drivable, and offer plenty of grunt. Can be easily tweaked too. 190bhp for around £1500 all in. (and some spannering effort from you)
Great looking car OP, always thought the Fury was a handsome thing.

Put the 16v heads on and add throttle bodies / cams and a decent manifoldLet it sing and you'll have something reliable and makes probably 150bhp which would be plenty for that.
