Warning Honda content from Aus.

I love civics having had two EGs in the past.

Both were D series which means less than fk all power, but with coilovers and good tyres they were the next best thing to a go kart for the money. In the hills on the downhill they kept up with some serious power cars and stuck like cat st on carpet.

The EK was owned by a mate of mine and I have been pestering him with lowball offers for quite literally years with the hope he'd sell it to me. I'd like to say I wore him down and got it for the $2.50 I was offering, but the truth is as soon as he said he wanted to sell it I was ready to go. In all fairness he gave me a good deal post Covid prices considered.

In terms of what needs doing my mate honest about the car. There is typical rust at the top of the hatch which Tom from Atomic (who is painting the S15) said is an easy fix.

?

And a possum jumped on the roof putting a dint in it. Said possum then took a st on the roof afterward to finish the job, the little kunt lol. You only see it if you go looking for it, but Tom said it should pop it out. There's a few other little shopping trolley dings to get PDR'd at the same time and some touch ups.

?

Mechanically the B16 actually pulls pretty hard. I'm still studying the Honda bible but the S4C gearbox has shorter ratios than the S80 from what I understand. The only thing it wants is a LSD which is on the cards after getting the roady done. I'm also going to swap the Bride out for the Velo's I had in the S14 with a strut brace for the harnesses. I'm keen to get back to Winton in it and hopefully the Avalon track gets built as it's close to home/work.

?

I also need to find the AC bits to put back in the car because as cool as race cars are aircon is cooler.

BRAAAAAAAAAAP :cool-new:

Some good history there

I bought an EG6 SiR-S here in the UK back in 2007 with 34k miles on from Japan; great car.

Sold that, bought an EK9; kept it absolutely bone stock but with all new OEM Honda/Showa suspension etc and a fully refurbished engine.

Sold that after about 12 months (regretted it); bought a 5th Gen Prelude BB8 and enjoyed that for c18 months; sold that and bought a DC5. That lasted 12 months and I've been in BMWs since 2011 laugh

The Prelude was a great GT car; did a lot of miles up to Scotland and down to Wales in that; lost all the pics of all the cars bar a few when Photobucket went stty on everyone! rolleyes

The Milano Red EG6 SiR-S is the one here pictured at the bottom of this post:

https://spiritofgrip.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/the-...

That was the day I bought it off the lad in Darlington

That looks in good condition and well worth continuing with it! It's a 1998? My old 97 integra reg started with OMP. Last summer at the usual events I saw a few 90's cars - Civics, Integras, MR2's, MX5's - which were real wrecks.

Lovely, but I was mildly disappointed that there's no lawnmower content...

Nice one OP cool I like the way most Oz-built cars seem to have genuine wheels on, don't often see them wearing Rota/Japan Racing/other ste wheels.

From memory when I had my K20 EG, comparing a 15x6.5 Volk TE37 with a similar size Rota 'fake' TE37 the weight difference was surprising, definitely noticeable on such small, light cars.

Thanks for the kind words gents and for sharing your cars, some great rides here!

It is a 1999, it's currently at the mechanics getting a roadworthy certificate (like a MOT) and I'm shopping for a LSD. Liking the look of Wavetrac.

Alas this lawnmower hasn't cut anyone's grass just yet! It's been growing cobwebs at Razz Automotive waiting on bits.

Dan has put the seats and fire extinguisher in (drivers has also been done).

He also replaced the shifter bushes as they were flogged out.

The cause of the hold up has been the LSD and diff gear, lesson learnt is don't buy pleb Honda parts from a bloke who usually rebuilds Porsche cup car gearboxes.

Went with B18 4.7 cwp, synchro kit while we're there and Wavetrac LSD.

Went with the Wavetrac as it appeared to be a good compromise between a clutch plate LSD and helical. Pretty nifty design. They're popular in the VAG world, keen to see how it goes in the civic.

https://motoiq.com/watch-how-a-wavetrac-differential-works-and-why-you-want-one-for-your-gtr/?fbclid=IwAR37zosXSz3WPZCUAB9GGrmofk73aJamvNiuZboa bUQfxPTOqr3aOhHXZzE

Also picked up a secondhand 320mm steering wheel.

Dan at Razz is doing all the gearbox work and if we have time hoping to get it across to Atomic to do the PDR and tidy up some of the little scratches/marks before Xmas.

I got excited this week because Dan made a start on the LSD.

The joy was shortlived though because the guy I bought the LSD, ring gear and synchro/bearing kit has apparently sent the wrong kit and forgot the bolts for the LSD to ring gear :upset:.
Dan got them on the phone and they're looking into it.

I just want to drive the nugget. Will see how it goes..

Fanciest lawnmower I've ever seen lol biggrin

After weeks of trying to get the guy who runs DiffLab in Qld to replace the wrong rebuild kit he sent with the one I asked for...  https://performanceforums.com/forums/forum/general... I asked Dan if he could source the right kit from Evasive here in Melbourne.

Dan took the whole gearbox over to Evasive on Saturday morning to make sure he got the right kit and then spent most of Saturday working on the car.

The existing Exedy clutch wasn't far off being gone.

So it's been replaced with a ORC309D. I had the non-dampened ORC409 in the first S15 I owned and liked it a lot.

Dan than moved onto rebuilding the gearbox.

Dan's also managed to work out the right bearings for the diff as well and is sorting these out next week so he can keep going.

If I get really lucky I might be cutting grass over Xmas.

In the lead up to Xmas Dan was sending me updates at 1130PM most nights of the week. Bloke is a gun.

He also put the Velo's in that were kept over from the S14.

And a 330mm Momo I'd picked up on fballs.

And on the last working day of the year I went to pick it up.

I can't thank Dan enough. The clutch, gearbox, LSD everything he's done has transformed the car, it was good to drive before it's fkn unreal now.

Got her home and pulled most of the stickers off (not my cup of tea).

Left some of the shopping list on.

And parked her up. Booked in a couple of the guys to go for a run up to Warburton on NYs eve, can't wait.
