Being currently car-less (main car has a transmission issue that will take a day or two to sort) I was grateful that a family member had a 9-5 sat in a garage.
The good news - it’s done less than 60,000 miles. It’s pretty much spotless. The seats are comfy.
The less good news - it’s done 20 of them in the last two years.
So, with a fresh MOT, oil change, 395 for road tax and a new Bosch battery I have taken ‘delivery’

I actually think the shape has aged well and it’s good looking car.
There’s no usb (I think) or dab but there is a 3.5mm aux which I hope will run from my phone. Then need to add a kiddie seat. And some new key fob batteries … now that I’ve opened them.
Doing a few local test runs before a 300 mile trip with my little lad. Fingers crossed that it won’t mind being waken from its slumbers.
Wondering about a cheap double-din with apple car play. Anyone got experience of something economical that works well?
And until then I’ll an abba CD or two.

Before the tune up (interesting, though) I’ve got two failures / warnings …
The parking sensors are upset and the engine management light is on. I’ve done thirty miles in the last couple of days, running about, no Italian tune up. And the cars done 20 miles in the last two years.
Got 300 miles to do tomorrow. Views?

Drive it. It'll be fine. And if it isn't fine, don't blame me.

Great cars these. Have owned two 9-5 Aero's. I believe the direct injection cassette is something that can & does fail. Just a thought.

Yea, I recall having that replaced on a previous Saab. Fingers crossed that this one is ok! https://www.partsforsaabs.com/index.php?cPath=61_6...

It was fine.
Although today it became soon apparent that the air con only blows like an asthmatic penguin. So to speak. And it was warm today so that needs fixing.
Top feature:

I know some skodas have the car park ticket clip, too, but it is a feature I love.
Looks good OP, I have a 9-3 convertible I bought last November and very pleased with it. It's approaching 135k now but goes well and is a pleasure to drive.
I hadn't realised the little ticket clip on the windscreen was standard. You can buy them on eBay as I fitted on in my old E Class so just assumed the owner had done the same haha.
Hope the EML and error don't give you too much of a headache.

Seems foolish that I didn’t realise you could buy them! It is OE on the Saab though. I hadn't realised the little ticket clip on the windscreen was standard. You can buy them on eBay as I fitted on in my old E Class so just assumed the owner had done the same haha.

Lovely cars.
Be gentle with your 300 mile trip, don't thrash it. Keep an eye on all the levels. Service it asap. Wake it up from its slumbers sympathetically and it will be fine.
In happier news, I called the generally highly recommended garage in our village and the owner turns out to be an old Saab technician with the Saab diagnostic machine. So booked in there. Be gentle with your 300 mile trip, don't thrash it. Keep an eye on all the levels. Service it asap. Wake it up from its slumbers sympathetically and it will be fine.
Having done that last night, switched on this morning and the EML is out and the parking sensors work.

Got to love old cars. Still going in for a checkup though.

To update: that Saab went to see my local ex-Saab mechanic. Put it on the tec 2 and lo and behold as macp predicted… new direct ignition required. https://www.partsforsaabs.com/index.php?cPath=61_6...
He also fixed the air con - which was dry - and took the beeps out of the alarm system. Now nearing 1000 miles and I’m quite attached to it …
