My Octavia Estate started playing up and wasn't worth the money spending on fixing it. So I needed a replacement, something a bit newer with less miles. I wanted it to be something VAG as that's what I'm used to and prefer and also needed it to be practical and fancied a 4wd for a change. This narrowed the list down a lot and with the budget I had the best option was a Skoda Yeti.

I initially missed out on 2 Yetis (they seemed to sell quick!) so didn't waste any time when this one popped up. It is a 2013 2.0 TDI 170bhp 4x4 Elegance in white with a manual gearbox which was exactly the spec I was after.

For sale pic:

There are a coupe of options over standard Elegance spec inlcuding:

Electric memory drivers seat:

Columbus Sat Nav:

Variable boot floor and Westfalia towbar:

On the drive home:

It was a 3 hour drive back from Manchester and the car was brilliant to drive, very effortless and comfortable.

Car back home after a clean:

Private plate to go on next and I also fitted some LED sidelights to match the colour temperature of the Xenons. Picture of it tucked away on the drive with my 1976 T2 cool

All season tyres, it’ll be great if you get any snow!

A much underrated car, good luck with it.

If the missus has to give her company car up I'm trying to steer her towards one of these.

It's a tough sell but I think if I can just get her in one, she'll be converted.

My other half is interested in the Yeti, but she needs a car with a high driving seat position due to hip pain in a low seat.

How far does the seat raise from the lowest position?

I really like these (they go well with a remap). My dad had a metallic grey one before trading it in for Karoq, then traded that for a Fabia (can you tell he really likes Skoda)?

Nearly bought one of these to replace the wife’s Octavia this week but the choices are more limited in petrol so went with a Superb instead. I do like a Yeti.

I always thought they were very 'highly' rated cars, very good reviews everywhere, came very close to getting one myself.

I loved my Yetis. Brilliant cars, vastly more than the sum of their parts.

I tried one once.
Step down was too much of a drop.
Inside seating space no bigger than our Fabia.
So we kept the Fabia and put Vredestein Quatracs on it.
I agree about the concept, the style and the name should have stayed

I had a Fabia before my first Yeti - there's a lot more room in a Yeti.

Good choice. I bought a 170 elegance 4x4 six years ago when we decided to start dragging a caravan about.
Really can't fault it (other than being a dieasel which I hate)
The 170's are very sought after as a tow car rated to tow 2000kg.
Mines a facelift so doesn't have the big fog lights.
Only problem I've had with it is a leaking water pump and this coincided with the timing belt change so was a bit pricey.
.

I liked the Yeti so much I've now got two!

This ones a 1.2 petrol DSG.
It was meant to replace the 170 as Mrs Easty's daily as she loves the Yeti but we are only doing about 4K miles a year in it and too many short journeys, and I was going to buy another petrol tow car.
This was bought at the start of Covid, so with that and the st show the used car market has turned into two years later we still have the two of them.
The little Yeti is the slowest/ smallest engined car I've ever owned in 40 years of driving, but its got under my skin.

The seat has a good amount of lift to it.
If you need me to measure anything just ask.

I'm not sure his other half is interested in that...

We were on the verge of getting a 1.2 TSI last year - such a good car, I absolutely loved it but the boot wasn't quite big enough for us. Ended up with a similar age C Class but weirdly I still long for a Yeti, I think they're ace.

Best time for a waterpump change surely? Would have been more expensive to have to change it any other time.

I was thinking how these weren’t ageing too well (lookswise), but that in white, with black bumpers, those wheels, looks very cool cool

They do a black edition (in white) that looks good too.

This is also the ‘indoor spec’, the ‘outdoor’ spec has sharper bumpers.

I love a Yeti, clocked up 50K in a basic 2.0D 2WD and it was absolutely bomb proof - I'd still have it today if it hadn't have been written off by a drunk driver. One of the only new cars I've ever purchased which says an awful lot!

For reference you can get a whole Cosworth TJ c/w airbox in the back of one should you ever need to....
