Hi so I had recently got to looking into the BMW M135i doing a bit of research looking at road test articles and videos on YouTube like one does. One popped up on Autotrader high mileage but a smidge under 9k I thought worth a look.

Turned up to the garage selling the car and there was no hard sell and was offered to take the car out for a test drive so trade plate in windscreen me and the other half set off.Straight away I knew I liked the car and one would never know it had clocked up 148k.Garage offered to refurb the wheels and I did squeeze them down couple of hundred quid.

Since picking the car up on Saturday and getting the chance to have a proper drive for the money as a whole package I can't fault it.The interior is quite subtle but everything seems of a decent quality no squeaks or rattles at all.

The engine feels super muscular with plenty of shove low down and it makes a nice noise too.Id never had an auto before but the box is so smooth and effortless.Plan is to keep the car as it came out the factory it feels plenty quick enough for me.Will put up a couple of pics since getting the car home but a couple after the test drive.

I opened this thread with trpidation in case you had the one I owned! It wasn't exactly perfect as I had a clarkson moment in the wet and crossed a 6 inch kerb on a traffic island with both offside wheels when it 'suddenly' speared off right after hitting some standing water mid corner. It felt like I was doing a comfortable pace but turns out it wasn't.

I replaced all of the bent wheels, shocks, damaged wheel bearings etc but it never felt right again.

I think the competance of the car really lulled me into a false sense of security, it's a brilliant package that covers ground effortlessly so I can see how it would be easy to rack up some miles in one.

Sounds like it's nicely run in. I think if the cosmetics like the seats etc look ok the rest will probably follow that.

Enjoy!

The N55 does make a nice noise - much nicer than the B58 that was in my M140i. The ZF8 is a very impressive gearbox.

I feel like I'm only scratching the surface on the performance envelope of this car.To my mind it feels a fair bit stronger than the 316bhp there supposed to have .The appeal for me was bang for buck I couldn't see anything else out there its a hell of a lot of car for under 9k.Most people would run a mile seeing a car with this mileage but I'd rather buy a car that had regular use than a garage queen doesn't turn a wheel very often.

I have also noticed early high milers have creeped below 10k.

Be interested to know how you get on with this one

I don’t think mileage is the issue it once was. Modern cars are generally really well rust protected and with good maintenance cars should last a while. By the time these came out, the N55 had been around for a while so niggles will have been sorted. From what I can tell, the N55 is a pretty robust engine.

Mate of mine bought a 125i coupe with 150k on the clock and added another 100k with no hiccups or catastrophes. It needed a few things fixing along the way but it didn’t leave him stranded or explode.

Good luck. You'll be doing the bearings soon, or they've been done.

If they haven't you should have budgeted, 9k is strong for that mileage.

Is it really strong money ? can't see any from a garage any cheaper car drives spot on I've certainly not been driving it thinking its going to break. I could have bought a low mileage one for 12 13k but for me I've always bought on condition rather than been scared off by so called high mileage

That looks good in that colour! I have a 2014 manual and love had it for 2 years and it's been great.

Found out the other day that if yours is june 2013 or newer then it has slightly more power, 320 (325ps). They just didn't announce the change until the lci model came out in 2015.

Enjoy!
