Hello all, been forever.....hows everyone. I have gone through the last 100 pages and cannot find my old thread. Maybe I never did one. Quick update, divorce late 2018 dragged on to late 2021 to be settled......kept the ro, but it was poorly. Brake pipes blown on the drive. So sent it around the corner and had new brake line run. Added in the following whilst on the ramp:

New mishimoto rad
New water pump (as it made sense to swap it) from WP
SS braided lines
New water jet pump
New rear discs and pads
Treat PS cooler pipework

Awaiting a new battery delivery, MOT booked for Thursday.

The paid for waxoiling from 2009 is really holding up well, but it needs a look in a couple of places. Also the inner sills may need a little work, something for when its laid up for the winter (so soon lol)

Oil and filter likely a good idea soon.

Not sure if I ever had the diff oil changed, Any recommendations welcome please on the oil.

If you can find any as it seems to be in short supply most of the time

Castrol SYNTRAX LIMITED SLIP AXLE OIL 75W140

It's also been rebranded as transmax limited slip I think . I've recently changed mine and it was a direct from container oil change no additional friction modifier required as yet.

Thank you.

Bloody thing has failed mot..... issue with security of the front pad pins (I need to have a look) and annoyingly the rear brake light strip....more than 50% failed

Has anyone replaced that led light bar? The screws are corroded in, so I assume it's a dig the whole thing out and seal in a new one.....if so anyone with a suitable substitute please?

Another vote for the Castrol Syntrax. I also put a splash of Redline FM in at the same time just for good measure. I drive mine like miss daisy anyway, just want a quiet clunk free diff and it is.
Can't help with the brake light, but as MOT failures go at least its an easy inexpensive one!

Ok thanks for the extra vote.

MOT update. Just spoke to the oracle Roger (monkfish1), top lad, thanks for the advice Roger (my ro has their suspension and brakes all round). Turns out that different tyres can foul the suspension carrier and the camber needs to be adjusted to clear it. He said he used to do this check and tweak it to circle 2 cable tie thickness clearance. Hopefully the garage can sort this. I am hoping that the pad pins just need tapping in (as its not been driven since I changed them and maybe I didn't hit them home when I changed them).

The rear LED light is a mare to sort. The 2 screws holding it in are self tappers and rotten, so will need to drill them out. Plan is to find something similar to replace it with, as the original part is crazy expensive (or was last time I looked). The garage are going to disconnect it to get it through (as I still have 2 brake lights so its still legal). Seems odd but thats the rules I guess. I was planning on taking off the spoliler to allow it to pass at least before sorting it.

Not done it myself but recall the light unit can be disassembled and the led parts replaced with cheap replacements soldered in

I hadn't realised I missed this car so much. Couple of niggles, the steering control for vol down is up lol...not fussed....fuel cap broke when I undid it, there is a concern that it will put it in limp mode.

Anyone found a UK replacement please? All the ones I am finding have a long delivery

Nice progress and great to see this one back on the road smile
The steering controls sometimes acting weird is an issue on my Monaro as well. Usually it means "vol down" actually does the opposite of what it is supposed to do. But since it only happens during the first couple of minutes after starting the car and then goes away, I have learned to ignore it biggrin

Nice to hear you're out enjoying it again. I just took mine in for service & MOT this morning, has sailed through though I have been advised I am not far off needing new front brake pads.

I also had the diff oil changed, Castrol Transmax 75W-140, plus the gearbox oil topped up. Just need to find some dry days over winter to use it!

Mine started doing the same last year laugh

Sometimes it works properly, sometimes it doesn’t. Like you, I just ignore it now.

Just talking to LXPerfomance in Oz.....interested in what a Harrop costs these days. I remember talking to Monfish 10 yrs ago and it was circa £7.5k fitted so expect it to be a lot more now.

They told me $13k for the basic supercharger kit + import tax and shipping then you need to fit and tune (ls2 monaro) + any further upgrades that would be needed

When i had my car up for sale in summer a tvr dude offered me very very strong money for my engine/box/charger if i were to part the car out
said he struggled to get the charger now and only wanted the 112 or 122-mine suited as it had cable throttle being cv8 for simplicity of install
it used to be the way of the mitsi evos that you had to part out to get your cash back

I dont think it would be as expensive to do a more modern charger install though-probably more efficient too-with the cv8 the charger makes the car imho as they are certainly not quick in standard guise and it adds the mad max whine too
