Excellent car. I have always hankered after the IQ but the stars never aligned.

I particularly like that they are short but have a normal supermini's width so they feel like a larger car. (I also like the stylised 'S' where the rear hatch/lights/rear wing align - a nice flourish).

What more can you ask for? A compact Toyota with a revvy engine, short wheelbase and decent build. It will outlast you!

Love the car OP.

I have been trying to convince my other half it ticks all the boxes for our second car but she has said she 'hates' it and doesn't appear to be moving.

Love it. We had an Aygo for years and adored it. It's still in the family and just keeps going! The IQ would have been even better, but just not quite for us at the time. I really wanted one though.

I had a poke around a Cygnet a few weeks back and was absolutely smitten.

Got a 1.0 Aygo which has been great, stress, tax and breakdown free.

Although it's not much in terms of sound insulation to can be noisy wind/road.

Coming from a larger car how do you feel the IQ stacks up regarding noise?

My mum has had an IQ3 with faux leather & a few extras for a few years now & I’m silently very impressed with it.

My neighbour's got one. It's the foil to his XKR & XFR. Fantastic bit of city metal.

I couldn't persuade my OH to get one - she was fixated by a Fiat 500 - but I love the IQ.

Good choice. I worked for Toyota for five years, during the launch for these in Seville. I went on to have three IQ3 1.33 as company cars, covering about 10k miles in each one. Great fun, well built, quiet, quick enough and with a smidge of lift off oversteer before the stability control intervened. Only wishes for me would have been shorter gearing and cruise control.

I like these and think the interior looks great. The dashboard has a slight hint of Lexus design from the same era.

I love these. Proper clever engineering. Like a Honda Jazz turned up to 11.

Trivia: I believe (I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong) that this is one of the few cars that is not permitted for the UK driving test.

Correct. It is considered that they do not give the examiner enough all-round viability to conduct the test. Others include the Mini Convertible, Ford KA convertible and Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet.

OP, I do like the IQ, spent ages looking around them at Geneva motorshow when they launched. An incredibly clever car.

In a very similar vein the "5 mile commute a day" stable mate to my 930hp RS6 is a 68hp '07 Citroen C1 which is just so much more "fun" than you may imagine a tiny little 3 cylinder 1L engined car would feel like in comparison.

There's a few negatives (mostly road noise and general comfort on longer 2-3hr+ drives) but they are massively out-weighed by the huge amount of positives, some understandable (financial etc) and some surprising (<800kg car being thrown around country roads on 155mm wide tyres is fun irrespective of power) but I'm really happy to have both cars as a real chalk and cheese duo!
