Hi all,

I picked this up last week - I’ve always wanted a Porsche, and started saving properly at the start of covid/lockdown. This is my first sports car - so far I’m loving it.

I’d welcome any hints/tips from owners - I’m still very new to these cars.

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks, it’s a 2.7 with manual gearbox. Callipers are “acid green” option from factory, and the wheels are 20” carrera alloys apparently.

Always liked the 981 Cayman - think its almost the modern equivalent of a Dino, fast enough, compact, delicate styling and attainable

Lovely car OP, looks great in white.

As a previous owner of a 987, it was a great car but never as timeless as the 981 which still looks very fresh in my eyes.

All the best with it and good on you!

White? maybe my old eyes are failing me but it looks like a baby blue to me. Either way it looks good OP.

Very nice, well done OP.

As others have said, the colour / wheels / calipers look great, and bought in time for better weather and longer days - enjoy!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone - it’s already providing lots of smiles. The sound of the engine is addictive, quiet when driving round town but really sounds epic when using all of the rev range!

I’m also pleasantly surprised by the fuel economy. I didn’t buy it for that, but mid 30s is easily achievable, and that’s including a few blasts etc:

It looks good in white.

I’m waiting on a late payment to arrive and then I’ll be actively looking at 981 amd 918 S’.
I would love white, but my wife has a late model white TTS Audi, so….two white cars on the same drive….maybe not!

I do like the Red ones though.

What are other people doing to add DAB to these? Surprised it doesn’t come with it tbh.

Also, the gear knob is the only worn part of the interior - replacements seem crazy expensive?! Is this just a Porsche tax thing? I’ve seen them for anything between £500 and £700 which is crazy.

Not a 981 but on my 987.2 Cayman, I fitted a Pioneer SPA-DA250DAB. The install was quite a straightforward DIY job and I’m really pleased with it. I think it cost about £300 all in.

It does DAB, streams music via Bluetooth and does hands free phone calls. I did a write up with photos of the install on the thread in Readers Cars here

That looks really good - huge improvement over the standard headunit. Thanks for this, I hadn't thought of going aftermarket - good idea though. I can always put it back to standard if needed.

I have that same unit in my much older Megane, with a cheap rear camera fitted, which made parking against a wall at the train station, so much easier.

I complimented it with a wired Brodit phone holder, which means it’s charging when connected to Appleplay.
