A very spontaneous Jaguar XKR

Those who know me, know that I am not renowned for my reckless spending and therefore this has come as much as a surprise to me as anyone else.
Last week I was quite happily living with my old e46 330, occasionally pondering what I might replace it with, but never seriously (I have had it for 6 years).
Last Wednesday I got a phone call from a very stressed out wife, who had a tyre going flat on her Evoque. It turns out that the actual valve had broken and of course this is is attached to the TPMS. A quick call to our local specialist and we are on our way with said wheel.
Wheel handed over and we are told that it will take about 15 minutes.
My wife says, " they have some really nice cars in the showroom", I figure that some window shopping is a nice way to spend quarter of an hour.
She homes in on an XKR in Pearl Grey and we discuss what a nice looking car it is.
Out of the blue "if you want it, get it". I presumed that I had misheard her and kept looking. Much to my amazement she repeat herself an I had to accept that my ears were not deceiving me.
I then found myself arranging a test drive for the following day, still trying to convince myself that this was a daft idea.
Still failing to do so, I made the fatal move of the test drive.
I concluded that I loved it but that you do not need that much power and spending lots of money on a car that you don't need, at a time when the prices are sky high was a stupid thing to do.
I went home to discuss this with SWMBO and we ended up deciding to take her back for a proper look.
Now, many years of marriage have taught me, that it is usually in my best interests, to do as I am told.
As such I found myself in the office, putting down a deposit. I should be able to collect it next week.
Anyway, onto the bit that people are really interested in, the pictures.
I shall take some better ones when I have it.

My bitter half just switches off when I start talking about cars these days.
Mine always says to me that she loved cars before she met me...whereas I've put her off them now, because I never shut up talking about them! 
I am a bit on the obsessive side to be fair though!
Will it depreciate lots? not really, probably nearing the bottom of its value curve at that age
Will it rust to pieces? unlikely as it's made of aluminium
Will it have expensive mechanical failures? unlikely, these seem pretty robust by reputation
Will it be fun to drive? yes
Honestly it seems to me that you could've spent three months analysing this purchase in every last detail and made the exact same final decision, looks a very sound buy to me. Enjoy!
ETA: 503 bhp!!!
Will it rust to pieces? unlikely as it's made of aluminium
Will it have expensive mechanical failures? unlikely, these seem pretty robust by reputation
Will it be fun to drive? yes
Honestly it seems to me that you could've spent three months analysing this purchase in every last detail and made the exact same final decision, looks a very sound buy to me. Enjoy!

They even put the car up in the air for me this afternoon. The rust mentioned is surface rust on the steel rear subframe.
The engine rattle is a spring loaded damper for the supercharger, this was being replaced when I was there.
If there any other issues or these are not sorted, I either don’t accept the car or it goes straight back.

Great. I know most check MOT’s online pre-purchase so was hoping it was easily explainable.
At least when you see a few advisories you know the tester has hauled the car over the coals rather than a dial-a-ticket affair.

Top Mrs! TBF mine didn't exactly stand in my way when I bought one. Or when I bought another, five years later...
Yours looks to have light-coloured headlining, I thought all the XKRs had dark headlining. Looks very tidy and I love the colour, I wanted that colour both times but ended up with a black one first and a silver one now. If you haven't already then get over to jaguarforum.com, the XK/XKR section there has loads of knowledge and experience.

Yours looks to have light-coloured headlining, I thought all the XKRs had dark headlining. Looks very tidy and I love the colour, I wanted that colour both times but ended up with a black one first and a silver one now. If you haven't already then get over to jaguarforum.com, the XK/XKR section there has loads of knowledge and experience.
