Jensen Interceptor Mk3 based in South West
Discussion
Thought it was about time I checked out 'Pistonheads' and everything car related on here.
Here's a brief description of my Jensen Interceptor Mk3.
Bought in 2010
Body Resto & paint 2011-2015 / Interior 2011 / Engine 2017 / Suspension 2017 / Brakes 2021
I always wanted an Interceptor after seeing one in a pack of Top Trumps & viewing one on a paper round , so must have been around 1977.
Bought my Jensen in June 2010. Managed to get an MOT on it before addressing the bodywork over a 4 year period. Since getting it back on the road in Sept 2015 it does around 2,500 - 3000 miles a year.
It's been featured in various magazines , calendars , a TV show and this year was shown at Hampton Court Concours.
It has a Chrysler 6276cc V8 mated to a Torqueflite 727 Auto box. The back axle is Salisbury LSD
I have fitted a hotter cam , ally inlet mainfold , edelbrock carb.
It now breaths easier via stainless headers , and cools easier with uprated fans.
I have fitted remote central locking & a better sterio system with DAB / Bluetooth etc aswell as changing all lighting (except headlights) to LED.
The alternator is now a Mitsubishi unit which charges at tickover unlike the original Chrysler unit.
Recently changed the number plate to JIG 383 which suits the name & engine size (383ci)
There will always been something to do but the list is getting smaller...

Very nice. I slightly knew someone in the late 90s who owned one.
Those louvres are an aesthetic and practical modification?
The louvres appeared on later cars to help get rid of the heat from the engine bay. Those louvres are an aesthetic and practical modification?
Mine must have had a replacement bonnet at some stage as it wasn’t available in 1972.
The SP ‘six pack’ version has a full vented bonnet with 84 louvres, to help getting air into the 3 Holley carbs !

Great looking car, and I'm sure I've seen you driving around in it. Are you Exeter/Dawlish kind of way?
My father allegedly chopped up a MK1 Interceptor when he was running scrapyards back in the 60's and 70's. Git.

I’m near Newton Abbot. Regularly down at the coast

That matt black air filter cover looks as good as the bonnet. Lovely.Mine must have had a replacement bonnet at some stage as it wasn’t available in 1972.
