2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio
Discussion
Just taken delivery of a new 'QV'. Was umming an ahhing between this and a new M3 but Dan Prosser's video on here convinced me that the Alfa is more suited to the characteristics I appreciate in a car.
Pic of car as it came off the transporter

And then on my driveway

I've been advised that I should run it in gently for the first 1,000 miles so haven't opened it up yet but should be there by the weekend. Will update on impressions once I've driven it properly,

Is that the standard Alfa red? Or is it the tri-coat special?
Standard Alfa red. TBH, I would have preferred the tri-coat 'Competizione' red but this was a pre-specced car and I still quite like the flat red, very Rosso Corsa. Its a pity that the QV only comes in a black interior, it would look great with tan leather inside for that classic Italian look.
"Standard or Sparco Carbonshell?" was the final question mark for me. It's difficult to find a car with the carbonshell seats in a dealer but I finally tracked one down, at Thames Motor Group in Slough.
At first sitting, the carbonshell seats felt very snug around the kidneys but I was able to hop into another Quadrifoglio with standard seats (Thank you to saleschap James, who was very welcome and accommodating despite knowing I wasn't interesting in buying that particular car or ordering from that dealership!) and I realised that they actually feel very similar (at least when just sitting in a car in the showroom). I thought the carbonshell seats would be snugger and harder than the standard seats but it feels like Alfa modelled the standard seats' shape on the carbonshells.
Anyway, as a result, I'm leaning towards speccing the carbonshells, as they just seems that little bit more suited to a car of that nature.

4 months and 3,500 miles in and all is till good with the Alfa.
Took it up to Scotland for a holiday, 4-up with a weeks luggage and it it did the family thing fine, a remarkably comfortable and civilised car when dialled back.
Lots is written (rightly) about how great these cars are but I thought I'd flag the few minor demerits that I've noticed with the car:
1) The stop-start calibration is awful. Always seems to cut out just as I need t move off and needs a boot full of throttle to restart.
2) In normal mode, the step off from rest is a bit hesitant, as if driving in wellies
3) The standard sound system is pants, needs a stereo upgrade
4) The rear seats are annoyingly narrow, in that it's hard to buckle a Halfords 1-2-3 car seat (which fitted fine in my 997)
All pretty minor but hopefully useful to know for anyone considering one.
Its early days I know, but thus far, very happy with it and wouldn't swap it for an similar rival.
