Aston Martin Vantage Prodrive
Discussion
Hi all, I guess it's about time I did one of these, I've only been on PH for 16 years
In July last year, I picked up this, an Aston Martin Vantage with a few Prodrive upgrades.
Basically whoever purchased it new, ticked every box and went all out with the Prodrive options, which include ECU map, sport cats, exhaust valves, adjustable suspension, forged wheels and the carbon aero package.
I plan to use the car as much as possible, with maybe a few mods, the car is very clean and when I picked it up it had around 17000 miles on it.
So, the story so far.
Picked up in July 2020

The first event the car went on was the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace with the Four Marks Car Club. There was some serious metal there and the car did me proud.

The next proper trip was down to Goodwood for breakfast.

Just after that, we went back into light restrictions, so that sort of ended the meets the car needed a few bits doing to it, so this was the time.
The front splitter was starting to show signs of lacquer peel, so I phoned around and got quotes.

The next step was to remove it, took a bit of time to figure out why my Torx keys weren't working

And after all that, it was just covered in PPF, which was lifting.... the carbon was perfect underneath, so took it all off and put the splitter back on.

The next job was to sort a few chips on the driver's side door pull, I got a kit from Chipex and gave it a go, the results were better than I had hoped TBH

And now we are into the last lockdown
But Christmas was around the corner and the car clearly needed something so a Carbon front plinth was ordered.

Very happy with it, I also fitted a new badge and OEM light adjustment stickers.

The next thing on the list was a very slight knock through the steering wheel, it felt like a ball joint or nothing similar, a very quick search pointed towards a loose airbag!
Two washers purchased from Scuderia and 10 mins fitting and the knock had gone

And apart from a bit of cleaning that brings us up to date, I will try and update when I do something Hope I haven't waffled on too much.

I also wasn’t aware Prodrive upgrades were available from order!
TBH the first time I found out about the Prodrive upgrades were when the dealer phoned to say they had the car in.So far I have only come across around five or six other cars with the upgrades, probably something to do with the cost
The 4.3 litre V8 engine increases in power from 283 kW (380 bhp) to 317 kW (425 bhp), as well as increasing peak torque from 410 Nm (302 lbft) to 440 Nm (325 lbft). This is at a cost of £6259 inc VAT.
0-100 km/h time reduced from 5.0 secs to 4.7 secs (est) and increases the top speed by 13 km/h to 293 km/h (est).
Modified exhaust system with a low back pressure sports catalyst and a driver-controlled switch to manually override the V8 Vantage’s exhaust valve. Quiet mode = valve is permanently closed; auto = as on the standard car; Sport mode = valve is permanently open.
A new driver-adjustable suspension by Bilstein and Eibach with a switch in the cockpit allows the driver to choose between normal and sports mode. £5581 inc VAT.
Discreet Prodrive designed and manufactured carbon composite front lip and trunk spoilers to reduce lift by 45 per cent. £2937 inc VAT.
14 spoke 19″ forged wheels made by Prodrive Japan; almost 9 kilos lighter than the standard wheels. Complete with Pirelli P-Zero tyres, £3995 inc VAT.
You could pick whichever ones you wanted so some cars only have the engine upgrade etc.
Fantastic car - short of a V12 it's about as good as a Vantage gets!
I'd be seriously tempted to replace the PPF on your carbon splitter though - the fact it was mint underneath suggests it was doing its job really well and can't be expensive to replace. First stone hit and you'll be kicking yourself.

I'm just waiting for a few more quotes to come back in, the first was £420.00 which "seems" a bit steep Lovely car! A friend of mine had a Prodrive AMV8 - He told me that he had been told only 3 cars got the full Prodrive kit, and his was one. So a rare car! He was also told by him that you cannot get the splitters at all any more. His car came with one that was lightly damaged and a brand new "spare" one. Not sure if he ever fitted it. Sadly I never got to drive this one very far or very hard. Sounded great in the loudest exhaust setting.
I gave it a light detail in 2017. You could certainly tell it was not mass produced and there were a number of bits of paint I did my best to sort, including a good chunk missing near the boot hatch - you could only see it with the boot open, but it wasn't a good look.
I would need to find the finished pics of the car, but I found these ones in my WhatsApp pics:
The grill needed a lot of polishing - was more white than silver!
It came up nicely in the end.
