From Quattroporte to 997
Discussion
Hi guys - been a while since I posted so here is an update to the fleet!
In August last year I decided to change my C6 RS6 . It had been an exceptional car with a 700hp remap and zero problems in the 2.5 years I owned it.
Anyway opportunity came up to trade it in for this!

Facelift Quattroporte 4.7S with ZF box. I have 2 small kids so needed to be something reasonable practical (ie 4 doors!). I love the looks and that 4.7 Ferrari engine is something to behold. What a sound!
Anyway - as you would expect - this is a seriously expensive car to maintain. Here are some examples during my ownership: rear wheel bearing - part alone costs £650! Fitting another 300!, front bushes and fittment - best part of £1000, servicing - £900 - you get the picture
Anyway, much as I loved the engine note and the practically, but the issue is the drive - It is very wallowly (except in sports mode) and jumps around the world. It got a bit better when I changed away from the Pirelli PZeros but was still not RS6!
Started to look at 997s but they seemed a bit pricey. I used to have a 964 C4 before prices went crazy. Thought about a Boxster but its not the same! Eventually, I decided I wanted a gen 1 997 C4S.
Eventually found this one and did a deal with the dealer on a part ex - picked it up yesterday and here it is!

Im really happy with the car. It is an ex RSJ sold car and has been very well maintained and cared for. Paint is so good I wonder if it has been repainted!
Aiming to enjoy it!

Looks like the maserati reputation is potentially true re running costs. To be expected to an extent I guess but definitely need to go in with wide eyes given the attractive entry price point of them!
Is the 997 a direct replacement ie expecting to take 2 kids in? Looking forward to updates.
Any engine work been done? There’s a few things that can be done to help avoid the various engine issues, low temp thermostat etc. id also get some front bumper mesh to protect the radiators a tad if it doesnt already have them.

I like a Quattroporte but it's no secret they are supercar money to maintain. Some are supermini money now and that attracts some buyers that think they can run them like a Rover 75.
Theres a dealer local to me that took one in part ex and is trying to sell it as a no warranty trade sale for £15k, it's been sat for nearly 8 months so a serious dose of brave pills would be needed.

Plan is to use the 997 as much as possible. I have 2 little lads and the loved the Maser more than me!Is the 997 a direct replacement ie expecting to take 2 kids in? Looking forward to updates.

I ended up buying a Mini Clubman cooper for the school run (a great car) but got sick.of the Maser sat on the drive never being used. I just never really jelled with it.
The 997 has had lots of work and is an ex RSJ car (they've sold it twice). Work includes all coolant cross over pipes, clutch and flywheel, all coil packs, RMS and IMS kits. It was bore scopes at 65k all good..now sitting at 76 k and seems fine!
