Alfa Romeo 4C - Second time around....
Discussion
So, after much debating whether to replace my original leased 4C spider with an Evora 400 amongst other options I’ve gone down the 4C route again.
Sure the Lotus would drive circles around the 4C in most conditions however, there is something magical about the little Italian rocket and given the tiny numbers in the UK and sudden increase in prices it seemed a sensible investment, albeit one that will get a good amount of driving too.
Specification wise it’s far superior to the Alfa Red one I had first time around - leather seats, gunmetal 18” & 19” wheels (the first car was cloth seats and 17” and 18” wheels) and some nice touches like the carbon air intake and carbon wing mirrors. However it’s the colour that really makes it special - madreperla tri coat paint or “mother of Pearl” in English. A beautiful colour that seems to change in front of your eyes.
The final option selected by the first owner is the coupe style carbon fibre ‘bug eyes’. Now, my first spider had the conventional lights and whilst I’m still getting used to these ones they do seem to fit well given the carbon intake, wing mirrors etc. It certainly looks more aggressive when driving it into the garage and looking at it in the mirror opposite the door....
The car has only done 4,000 mines in 5 years so first up is a C Tek charger to assist the battery (I’ll look to replace this at it’s next service) and then I’ve ordered a carbon fibre Koshi rear spoiler - with Italian flag of course...to compliment the carbon fibre interior and exterior. Despite having the race exhaust I’m also looking into a dual centre exit system too - I just feel the OEM exhaust setup looks a little tame. Finally the option of the Alfa Works geo setup too.
More updates and pics to follow.....
Where it all began, poverty spec but beautiful nonetheless....

And now the ‘new’

From the pictures you can see I made a change from the original satin black to gunmetal- mainly to show off the wheel design. Originally it looked like this - nice, but not the look I wanted...
Also the rear spoiler to be fitted once it arrives.

Lovely cars, these have always intrigued me. Good call on changing the wheel colour to gunmetal. I think I prefer the headlights on your red one though! Do you think these are practical enough to use as a daily?
I guess it depends on exactly what a daily car means. If going to the office and back then absolutely. In fact with a steady right foot you’d easily got 40mpg from one which is insane really. With leather seats they are comfortable however room is of course at a premium with a very small boot space. However, I’d planned to travel back to Maserati in Italy (Maserati built the 4C) pre lockdown in the old one and worked a way to take more than just a spare pair of pants

Regards the headlights I don’t disagree. The originalowner would have parted with £2k as an option for these...certainly up close they look spectacular in full carbon fibre finish.

That looks superb!
The depth to that paint finish is amazing.
Gunmetal wheels definitely better and the rear spoiler you are getting is very nice nice.
Thanks, the paint is almost 3 or 4 different colours depending on the light. It’s a must for some PPF I think as it must be a nightmare to colour match....The depth to that paint finish is amazing.

Popped it down to NJS Alfa at Pershore today to do a battery change. The car has only done to 4,000 miles in 5 years and I’ve been concerned that the charge wasn’t holding too well on the C-TEK charger (basically dropping from 7 to 3 just at the switch of a dial or headlights being turned on).

Also fitted some OEM Italian flags on the sides too. Awaiting the carbon fibre Koshi rear spoiler next.
