2017 F31 335d Touring x-drive Good spec controversial colour

Long version and a short version... We will aim somewhere in the middle. Golf R estate replaced by Black m-sport F11 520d as 'it's all the car you'll ever need' I tell my darling wife. Tired of boy racers noising up the Golf and really fancied pure comfort which the 5 series certainly offered. We will get a weekend toy for taking the dogs out, bah blah blah. Not in any way able to afford this toy idea so we decide to punt the 5 series.
Selling an aging, diesel estate that's still around 10 grand is difficult. No one really has that cash and if they do it's going on an initial payment on something tasty. One other draw back of the 5 is the power figure which is trumped by a motorbike I had a couple of years ago!!!! In a wagon that I could happily fit 4 6 footers in!
So then I notice a 335d for sale in South Wales mid lockdown. I am north of Glasgow. Two or three calls and we have purchased the 335 knowing it has good but could be better spec. Then offer the 5 as a trade in for ease of use on our part. Dealer makes a great offer and subsequently advertises the car at £3k over his buy in price so reckon a tidy profit in that. Good on him, good for us. Better for us is the 3 series arrives in outstanding condition, with 4 warranty replacement wheels and a tonne more spec than advertised. Wicked.
5 series was required for comfort and at the time one big dug and a child. Now onto same child only bigger and one additional pup. So how does a smaller car work??? We use my Arctic Truck (D'max) for all family outings as my work is now at home only, think minimum 300 miles a week in 2019, now occasionally 0 miles per week.
Please have a look at the pics and I will try and collate a full spec list as it's a beauty... So far it is extremely quick (by comparison). Super comfy. Suits the wife better than the 5. Sounds great. Leather been no issue to keep clean after the initial detail / feed and protection job.
Cons:
Bit wee when we do take the pups - Luckily they are attached at the hip and curl up together anyway.
No winters on her.... Bad. Luckily my pick up is available on inclement weather days,
Tuning anxiety - what would a remap do... How cool would a sporty exhaust sound... Can I borrow money from the savings for this.....
It's a bit purple.

I enjoyed reading that, the suspense was palpable
Congrats on the car, it looks great! Any pictures of the exterior in daylight?
For winter wheels, I had found a set of BMW 405m 18'' on ebay and had them shipped using shiply. The set with winter tyres is 2k new from BMW.

I will get some better pics. It's so stunning when clean.. I will probably just go for tyres only. Looking this morning, cheers
Lovely Velvet Blue .. congrats on the purchase mate. Thats 2 threads now on PistonHeads of individually specc'd 335d's - which is lovely to see. I believe your car may have been supplied by TJ Car Sales.
I was also very close to buying a Velvet Blue F31 335d at the beginning of last year but missed out on it as I was out of country. Still have a picture of it saved on my phone ...

Yep TJC. Smashing guys to deal with and a good story behind the 335. As most do, I hate the thought of dealer 'chat' but genuinely, the guys @ TJC came across as straight talking and fairly minimal amounts of sales talk. The car was slightly more expensive than a lower specced similar mile car but soon got a couple of quid off when considering delivery and the hassle for me of a) selling ours and b) the two days out my life to swap over in person.I was also very close to buying a Velvet Blue F31 335d at the beginning of last year but missed out on it as I was out of country. Quite a few folk have said they'd happily spend similar cash on this level of spec so that gives peace of mind for me.

Excellent. TJC sound like good guys. You're right ... spec makes a car special and yours has one hell of a spec. It's probably too early for this question but do you have any plans to modify the car or will you keep it standard?Quite a few folk have said they'd happily spend similar cash on this level of spec so that gives peace of mind for me.
get some ACS springs and turn the car into the car it should have been from factory

also I've had a Celtic Tuning remap on my 335d and had no issues with it and great improves the car

Love the colour, not sure about the blue stripe around the interior (feels like it should match the exterior colour or be neutral) but overall a big fan. The car is insignificant compared to that pair of beautiful boxers though!
The Blue stripe is so out of place. Looking at others it looks like this is added with the blue calipers?? It doesn't sit well.Pups are fantastic. Growing up with working Labradors the first Boxer was a bit of a shock!! He's calming down now, at 5 years old. Cheers
