Audi 4.2 V8 in a 924
Discussion
Hi All. I am swapping in a Audi 4.2L into my 82 924. started back in 2015. I am using a 931 bellhousing with a Audi v6 spacer welded to it. Has 944 turbo front and rear brakes. Suspension, Audi A6 swap bars, 944 Turbo torque tube and gearbox. Aluminum flywheel, Mazda 240mm clutch disk and S4 Luk pressure plate. Will be using the OBD2 system for the A8, plus Cluster, and possible working on the Xenon lighting for the headlights.

What an amazing amount of work. That's going to be brilliant. What kind of power will it have and what is your intention, will it be a road car?
Thank you!! Looking around 380hp/tq, will be a legit road car, with stock looking interior, aside for the Audi A8 Custer. I will have full heating and AC too. Hey all, sorry for the delay in post, It kept giving me the new member temp hold last night when trying to reply. I highly appreciate the support and enthusiasm for my swap. It has been a crazy amount of work, but will be 100% worth every bit of it. my over all cost right now is only $4300 for this swap. it does help to do the work myself. After this swap is done I plan to get another 924/944 chassis and put the Audi S4 2.7 twin turbo in it lol. I will keep you all posted as I can, the car is 350 miles from me at my Dad's house due to me being station down at Edwards AFB. I will be able to work on her some more this coming December. if you all have any questions about my swap, please do ask.
Thank you guys, I will update as I can. which will be in about 22 days lol! finally get to go home to my Dad's. my Interior I am redoing in our Family Tartan, doors cards, lower Dash, and center console. I have not started on the Dash yet, need to adapt the A8 cluster to it first. Also added a few extra pictures or radiator placement and modified steering arm.
Hey all, working on fitting the late model 944 HVAC unit in. It is going pretty good, got it set about where it needs to go, required some extra cutting.... but what has not required that on this lol! But it will be a nice upgrade from the old worn out 81 924 stuff.
I will continue working on her after Christmas
The Dash will require a bit of mod work, but nothing crazy at a, was pretty surprised at how well it fit over the upper section.

Looks like a fun project Hoping to start working to restore my 944 S2 at some point... it's been off the road for 10 years sitting outside
I'd be interested in seeing a thread on that. Fabricating the Passenger side header, it has turn out pretty good. quiet pleased with the shape, everything is tacked into to place and can be installed and removed with out taking it apart, which is huge! considering the space I am working with.
Drivers side is certainly going to be more tricky.
Looking forward to seeing your S2 up and going, I am doing a S2 swap into my Wife's 944 NA, I will post a new thread about it once I get home from the holiday times.
