I have recently purchased a Desande Caprice
I have tried the most obvious sources of info and have tried to contact Grand Prix Metalcraft but I can find very little about the car - eg how many were made, how many are left, what parts come from what vehicle - apart from Midget doors!!
Can anyone help me?

Autocar Magazine featured one in 1982. You could probanly get a copy on eBay, although apart from the MG doors, I don't remember how much technical information was in there.

I thought it was the most spectacular car I'd ever seen when I was 12!

Nice find smile

Looks like Midget screen, wipers and hood as well (with matching metalwork at its base), so possibly the whole central tub?

That's a very nice looking thing. A google suggests it was a choice of Ford or Chevrolet V8's. Which has yours got?

Being a Caprice, I'm going to say Chevrolet.

I was just going off this https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/desande-c-capr... which said they had a choice of two difference engines.... Although seeing as they cant spell convertible and say it's a 6 cylinder I wouldn't hold *any* hopes for how accurate it is!

Hi,
I helped Danny Desande when he was building the first Desande.
We went with the fiberglass moulds to Grand Prix Metalcraft and they made them in aluminum.
I also helped stripping down the first estate car and putting the midget tub on.
Somewhere I have the original pictures from inside Grand Prix Metalcraft.
Regards Marnix
