Thanks for the positive comments. I have actually owned 5 Porsche 968’s over the years, my first was a brand new one in 1994. I think it was about £30k which was top money in those days, and was a company car. It was followed be a succession of M3’s but I missed the 968 and when I retired I searched for another as a track day motor. I never paid more than £7k for them, in fact the penultimate one cost me £4k and had 197,000 miles on the clock. First thing I did with any of those cars was to replace the seats with Recaro Pole Position’s and strip everything I could out of them to save weight and it all went in the skip. Last year I came across this white one. Three owners, 130,000 miles , loads of stamps in the service book and it’s immaculate. This time it’s staying as it is with no tampering !
4k for a 968, what year was that? I've always followed the prices but could never quite afford one. I remember seeing some for around 7k . You did really well to bag one at 4k. They all seem north of 12k now and I ended up with a 944 but i still hanker for a 968.
What I find interesting now is the pricing of the 968 against the cayman. Cayman now start at 10k and you'd struggle to get a 968 for that. Now I've never driven a Cayman but I've read fantastic reviews. Similar power I believe and potentially cheaper to run being much more modern. I'd be really interested in anyone with experience of both. Personally the 968 is the better looking car for me, and there's not many of them left I guess.

I got 4.5k for my 968 about 5 years ago. Rang around all the dealers as I wanted to shift it quickly, no joy, so stuck it on EBay with no reserve!Nice car mate! I was shopping a 968 few years ago but i ended to a different but very similar type of car. Anyway, awesome machines. I hope you enjoy it and drive it as much as possible.
Cayman vs 968... Well other one is old skool car with analogue everything+very reliable engine. No-brainer for me... Some of these old warhorses are actually very easy cars to own vs modern machines.

I agree, we are not comparing like for like. Caymans are great cars and you can drive them every day, however a 968 is for special days. If I had a bigger garage I would have one of each !
