Hi I’m new to here. Feel really fed up with my car. I’ve got a car last year it’s ina lease deal company car thing with the nhs. I’ve had a few cars before all diesels 207 Corsa Peugeot fiesta and civic all diesels which have been really fuel efficient
I’ve had a Kia Rio 2 1.4 diesel since sept 17. It seems thirsty I’m getting 42.5 mpg I’m sure I would
Get nearer 50 to 60 in my previous cars I’m really frustrated and it’s taking the fun out of driving I feel like I’m having to get it into fifth gear at 30 as I’m scared to use all the fuel up.
It seems really noisy it’s done 2300 miles now and isn’t getting any more fuel effeifent so frustrated feel like I’ve got a total lemon
Please help

How are you measuring your fuel consumption?
Your car is still quite new and it’s winter which won’t be helping your fuel economy.
Are you sure your previous cars were doing ‘50 or 60’ and how were you measuring this?
Finally 42mpg isn’t that bad- it’s hardly going to ruin you... it means you’re using, what, 20% more fuel than before?

Hi typically I do 10 k a year maybe 5 k of mixed local and midrange journeys for work and privately the usual all run around to Ireland once a year. I’ve
the difference at 10k a year, 60mpg & 42mpg is 400 quid, 33 quid a month not a lot really, i wouldn't worry. Maybe look at your driving style, these types of cars are more city based .Frustrated.. said:
No wind up it’s needs to be in 5th to be remotely cost efficient. It’s like I’m driving around in a v12
Are you trolling? Or don't you have a driving licence? 5th at 30mph is ridiculous. You are labouring the engine. Change down into 3rd or 4th at that speed. The engine will then be operating in its most efficient range.
Your poor mpg is (partially at least) related to your poor driving technique.
