Maybe i was being a bit OTT with that statment. But when you get lift off oversteer, the weight transfer happens quickly and theres not much warning of the impending brake away, you would have to be concentrating hard to catch it.
I can confirm this 'trait' from personal experience, and this was just a 120bhp Mk1, + damp road, sharp bend, crap driving. Didnt hit a hedge though, the large grass verge got in the way.......
Great cars, just not suited for the inexperienced driver (as I was).
I went out on the Northants run recently - (as if it were needed) this theory was confirmed when the Impreza P1 I was behind braked on the apex - causing me to sort of slide / wrestle the car to keep out of his boot / on the road - all good fun though
Eagle F1's were virtually impossible to unstick in the dry or wet, but they were 205's on a car that is supposed to use 185's, the lighter of weight mk1 that is, rather than those "tubbys".......
I seemed to spin my tubby no matter what boots I had on the rear!
Fantastic fun though! (facing the wrong way on a dual carriageway with an articulated truck flashing his spots and parping his air horns! was a 260bhp revision 2 though!
