2006 Porsche Cayman S

My first Porsche bought a few weeks ago, I've come very close to buying one on a number of occasions but was always put off by the IMS, Bore scoring stories and chickened out.
My wife recently bought herself a little Evoque so I sold the family wagon a BMW 5 series and decided now is the time to take the plunge and fingers crossed not get burned!
I searched for a while and lined up a couple of test drives but had a final trawl on Auto Trader and this had just been listed an hour beforehand, the right colour, spec, mileage etc so after a long chat a deposit was paid and I jumped on a train to Blackpool.
A complete Porsche nut had it and cherished it but he had just bought a 997 Turbo and also had a mint 964 Turbo sitting in his garage! Very knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with which was great being a private sale.

Only 57k miles and a few owners,
Sports Chrono,
19" sport design wheels,
Xenon's,
Heated hardback sport seats,
Painted centre console,
BOSE,
Quickshift gearbox,

In the first week I added LED spars to the front which does away with the horrible foglights, wheel spacers to fill the arches out a little and an AWE Tuning exhaust which makes a lovely flat 6 wail!
it will be getting more extensively modified, tastefully though and always reversible! I have a 3rd radiator kit sitting waiting to get fitted along with a low temp thermostat as i intend to do a few trackdays. It desperately needs lowered, then maybe a wheel change etc etc!

It drives beautifully, everything is very tight and rattle free. The gearbox is really nice with a very short throw and the handling is superb its very hard to unsettle. It is very responsive but a little flat low down on power but when you hit around 5k revs it takes off and thats where the exhaust really lets itself be known

I'm now looking forward to some long summer drives as I am not far from the best driving roads in the country.

I'm in the same boat...ended up buying an S2000 instead last time around but the itch is still there...

Car and spec are lovely, first time I've seen those led spars they take 10 years off the front end

You might want to look into the oil supply, I believe the earlier years only had a single pickup point in the sump and prolonged g from high speed cornering could cause oil starvation issues when on track. I believe this was modified later on.

Yeah I did hear that too, although my trackdays would be at Knockhill where there isn't any prolonged G forces!

I've done a couple more little styling mods.
The standard steering wheel is really thin and quite slippery, Royal Steering Wheels made it slightly thicker and retrimmed it in alcantara with thumb pads, red stitching and red centre stripe. Superb job and really makes it a completely different car to drive!
I also had the front corner splitters colour coded as i didn't like the silver and added a small rubber splitter below the bumper.
Really happy with the front end now, just need the wheels refurbished and it sitting a little lower.
