Purchased yesterday.

98k miles, FSH....mainly cosmetic issues, otherwise im v pleased for the price!













Lot of car for the money.....how many weeks/days/hours/seconds before something expensive explodes??!!! :s

£200 would get that quarter painted where I am. I'd do it, run it for a year then a ticket and put it on AT at £995.

I don't think I'd throw 50% of a 400 quid cars value on cosmetic until I'd racked up some miles making sure everything mechanically was sound...

Yeah, i wont be spending anything on it cosmetically quite yet until it gets fully checked out.

Nearly all of my cars have been in the '£500 or less' area...but this is certainly the most 'special' (?) of them.

22mpg hurts a tadge though.....

you could do the job yourself, take the panel off sand it down , filler etc bit of paint job done. maybe 20 quid for paint, filler sander.

looks nice i think weak spot is the gearbox.

I'll be honest and say i've no confidence in myself on jobs like that.

It's the worst area on the car...but there are quite a few others little bits of rust starting and scuffs etc around the car. Cosmetically it needs a proper looking at...i'm just gonna try to keep the rest of it in reasonable condition.

He's also said he has no confidence doing it himself. Few things look worse than a botched paint job. If he wants resale value it's worth getting an under the arches job done.

Cheap as chips! Even if it dies on you you'll get the money back as spares/repair on Ebay. 22mpg is a bit of a kick in the nuts mind.

After looking at those arches i'd whip off the side skirts and inspect those sills if i were you.

Erm he will have to do it without removing the panel. It's the rear quarter. It is not as if you can unbolt it...

Forget unbolting, I'm still dying to see how he can get two cans of primer, a can of topcoat, a can of lacquer, tack racks or panel wipe, wet and dry paper, a tub of G3 compound and a DA sander for £20.

Thought it might be rear panel but couldn't tell from photo. It would be madness to spend 200 quid sorting it by a pro. A quick spruce is always the better option.
My daily isn't rusty but scratched but never bothered me as I spend money on the mechanicals.

Looks like a lot of welding was done for the last MOT, should should be structurally ok for a little while?
