Love the look ot this. Owning a mk2 Golf Gti is on my bucket list. I even have a set of BBS RA wheels tucked away in my shed for when the time comes. Ideally a big bumpered 16v car. Good luck.

From what I've read (and seen on youtube) a heat gun should be able to get that grey plastic back to black again.

FYI it also has the wrong doors as it has one piece glass from a 90 spec car. (but thats not a bad thing as these look better)

Thanks for your comments guys.
It's a late 1987 model so was revised having the Digifant injection system, full size front windows instead of quarter glass, and various trim changes.
I have done most of the mechanical work now and bodywork almost complete. Is currently my daily while I do some work on my 1991 5door.
(Can't have too many mk2's )

Sorted brakes and suspension first, then some corrosion to rear turrets and floor.

Looks clean under the arches. Is it nice and solid? I tried to buy an 80,000 miles 3 door at the tail end of last year. Nice miles, but I reckon he's parked it in the sea every night judging by how crusty it was underneath!

Worse bit was passenger rear suspension turret. Drivers side by filler neck was surprisingly good.
