First Car/Small Rally Project - 2005 Peugeot 206 1.1 Zest 3

Despite loving cars and Motorsport since what was most probably day one (thanks to my Dad's past car history) I only passed my test Nov, 2016.
It's been a nightmare trying to find a car, that's cheap enough to buy and insure without completely busting the bank, but alas this Saturday just gone, my dream has finally come true. Picked up an absolute gem of a 206 for just under £1,400; 63k miles, full spec for a Zest, custom Kenwood Stereo, brand new tyres, clutch, no advisories on ANY of it's previous MOT's and absolutely spotless!
Next step was insurance, I was adamant not to have to have a Black Box/Telematics, but I could just not get a quote off anyone who wasn't out to scam me with silly rules or charge me upwards of 9 grand (I had been searching and getting quotes for the last 6 months). Anyhow, last minute, right before I bit the bullet and went with Ingenie, I decided it was a bad decision and decided not to go with them, I gave it one last shot on confused.com and bingo! I got a decent quote from Hastings Premier - no blackbox/telematics, full cover and a decent price... Sorted! After an hour on the phone to them and my Dad last night, we finally sorted it and my cover stars a month from today (how exciting) - which brings me on to my build...
Obviously I can't do anything too major as it's my first year of insurance and it will probably cost me a bomb to add any big modifications to my policy, but there are a few things I have in mind over the next few weeks, to turn my car into a baby rally car!

Different set of trims (Not particularly a huge fan of the ones that are already on the car)

If you're wanting to make it look something like a rally car, I'd do away with the trims completely and run it around on the steelies - a la 106 Rallye. Maybe give them a fresh lick of paint if they're rusty.

The time has come! Insurance started Tuesday but tax starts at midnight tonight! (Saturday 1st), acquired my first mod, my lovely fiancée treated me to some Red 206 RallyFlapZ for my birthday on Tuesday! Will be installing them in the morning and taking the 206 out for the first time, very excited! 
Congratulations on the first car, it looks like a very tidy 206. If you're looking to go for a more 'rally' look then I'd agree with the other comment, to simply remove the wheel trims altogether, a la the 106 Rallye.
I know it's not the style of the moment, but I think the Dimma kit looks so right on a 206 and, if I'm not mistaken, it was the kit used on the rally cars too. Insurers will not appreciate it and it would be a truly absurd amount of work to undertake, but if you keep the car long term it might be something to consider? Parting with a first car isn't easy, after all.

Thanks! Yeah I'm going to look into going to the steelies, the trims on mine are just a bit, granny-ish! Would definitely love to keep the car in the future as a project, a Dimma kit is in mind, and with some help from some family friends who are mechanics and worked in Motorsport throughout the 80's, I'd love to completely turn it into a new car when I have the time and money! I love to imagine a mid engine conversion, Turbocharging it, replacing all the parts to all wheel drive and making a sort of '206 T16', with the Metallic Grey paint and Red stickers to match... But that's a little far in the future for now!

That's a nice 106! Always loved them, my mates older sister had one back when we were kids and it was a cool little car...but a 206 weighed up better for me as my first! Have you got a separate thread for that project?
