So after many thoughts and discussions I couldn't decide between an R8 or GTR so have decided to have one of each for a year or so, it turns out I dropped on an almost as new 11k miles R8 before I saw a petrol blue GTR (preferred colour).

I've left a deposit and pick the car up next week. Sepang Blue with carbon blades and extended carbon interior, immaculate car which has been looked after.
People seem to comment the R8 are a bit "bland", we'll see but it didn't feel bland or sound it on the extended test drive. Not as quick perhaps as the 600bhp GTR I drove but I think it wins on looks. It's also got a fancy switchable exhaust system which sounds the dogs at full whack!

I think you made the right choice, this will probably keep you smiling for longer than a GTR

Love it, but then ive always been a fan of the R8, especially the 4.2

It might not be as flamboyant as a Ferrari or Lambo, but its still a proper supercar, and should be very very nice to have.

Lovely car and that colour and spec is bang-on but why did you not go for a V10? Surely that is the direct rival for the GTR? Just curious.

purely budget, would have liked the V10, could have afforded one, but had set a max of £45k, its already crept past that lol but decent V10s are circa £53-55k min.
more than happy with the V8, i've had faster cars tbh, but its a nice overall package.

Great choice, we've had a couple of R8s and a GT-R. I'd have another R8 in a heartbeat, don't miss the GT-R one bit.

Cheers.i was very impressed tbh with the petrol blue 600bhp GTR I drove but I must admit it didn't look or feel special as such, however pound for pound it has to be the performance bargain.
The R8 is in Northern Ireland so I get a road trip out of it also, just wishing it was at a better time of year weather wise.

I would pick the R8 over a GTR.

I did think that as soon as i commented. Both engines offer a different but great experience.

Congrats on the purchase!

Agreed, very nice indeed- and that's from someone who isn't an Audi fan in the slightest.

Excellent choice, boring, dull, never great looking car and in my opinion the choice over a GTR.
