Mazda 6 Sport 2.5
Discussion
After the fun and games of buying a problematical diesel Mazda 6 sport, you'd think i'd look elsewhere.

But no. We actually really liked the car, the handling was great, it looked good and was pretty well equipped.
So I did the PH man maths, and decided the fuel cost savings of a diesel outweighed failure costs. So off to the classifieds to loom for a petrol variant. And of course, the bigger engine was the one, especially with a fairly hefty car.
They are pretty rare in the 2.5 guise from searching, and we decided to look at 72,000 mile, 2008 car that was a bit of a jaunt away in Bristol.
Impressed with it, much more eager off the line than the diesel, and reasonably swift in mid range. We bought it, and ran it around for the last week, and had a spirited drive around the local lanes last night. Very pleased so far. Only thing I miss from the white one we bought is parking sensors - Wifey will be the main user, and she is better at parking than me, but does have screaming kids to contend with.
But hopefully it will serve us over the next few years, full Mazda service history and we'll use our local dealer who was so helpful with the issues we had with the diesel car.
Just trying to work out if I can sell my Mk 5 Fiesta Zetec S, and keep the wifes mk5 Golf Gti for myself.....

No replies to this, but the car has been spot on. No issues at all in the year we've had it, the huge boot swallowing kids, pushchairs, bikes, scooters and the usual young family stuff. And it's pretty good to drive.
Treated it to some ebay RX8 alloys which I think suit it perfectly, as the old wheels looked a mess and needed new tyres.
Bad points?
For a 2.5 petrol, it would be nice to have more power, although it is faster than it feels. Disappointing exhaust note. Fuel economy isn't anything to write home about. Slightly over light steering.
No lane change on indicator stalk, and no reversing sensors, which the failure of a diesel we had did have. (Very nit picking niggles).
All in all though, it's been great as the family bus, and we'll keep it until the need for a pushchair is gone.

Don't check underneath! Mine looks fine on top and poor underneath. My wheels are shot too, RX8 wheels are a real possibility.
Had ours since March, it kind of surprises me how they've managed to get so little power out of it whilst using so much fuel. Bose stereo with the sub is decent though.

I had a similar experience with a mazda 6, although the previous model. Bought for the same reasons and an issue within 24 hours, wouldn't start every so often, seller wan't as good and screwed me over, I fixed it, encountered another issue and shifted it on.
Still a fan of the newer models though!
