Mondeo 2.2 Tdci Titanium X Sport

So my E39 has moved on to pastures new

That was my 3rd car this year so getting abit tired of all the shedding, so wanted something abit newer / modern.

Looked at a few, 9-5 Turbo Edition / E61 525i and D and the Mondeo. Plenty of head scratching, changing my mind etc, disapointed with the BMW's in my price range, had 2 Saab's already and although you cant ignore the value for money fancied something else.

Was 99% sure i wanted the Mondeo, just which engine / spec to get. Test drove the 2.5T and the 2.3, again not blown away.
Started a thread on here about which engines are recommended, 2.0 and 2.2 Tdci as the verdict (2.0 Ecoboost out of budget). When this one came up on A/T this week and was local I had to go and see it this morning.

Test drive was good, good history and mileage, top spec engine and trim level, so abit of man maths (ok a lot) stretched the budget to fit. Deposit down and pick up next week.

Excellent choice, I love a good Mondeo, just do everything so well especially with a pokey engine. I recently purchased a 240PS estate and love it, so good at cruising around for business, ideal to fit a large family in yet enough poke to put a smile on your face. I must admit the Titanium X Sport Suspension is a tad hard, however mines on 19s so I suspect yours will ride better.

Lovely. My 2009. 2.0d titanium Mondy has been utterly reliable in my 6.5 years of its ownership. You can't say that about many cars.

They're heavy on front tyres though. That's the drawback. I'm on Uni Royal rain sports. Very impressive and better than Bridgestones.

Just over a month of ownership, really pleased, have done about 1500 miles, performance and economy better than expected.

Only slight downside is the seats, just cant get them quite right comfort wise. Maybe the super comfy seats in my last car (saab) is not helping. Oh and the 18" wheel / low profile tyre / suspension combo is making me paranoid about tyre pressures / punctures, think im getting old !

Wouldn't worry about punctures, touch wood I've been ok so far and I'm on 19s and 40s. I work down a rutted country lane and visit building sites and have had no issues. Glad you're enjoying it though, superb all round cars that tick a lot of boxes.

Nice car Op, but then I am biased - I bought a 2.5 Turbo estate a couple of weeks ago . Funnily enough I also considered a Saab 95 Turbo Edition. Missed out on a few, but I'm glad I did in the end as I managed to bag a great example of the Mondeo.

Mine's a 57 plate, so has the shiny centre console. I prefer the black dash of your car, but the silver's not too bad.
Mine also has 20" wheels, which I'm going to get shot of - pot holes are not my friend at the moment

Blimey 20"s !. I have enough issues feeling every bump on the 18's so imagine the 20's are worse. I'm also glad i choose this over the 9-5/E61.
Only issue at the moment is the tyres are a bit crap, loads of tread but a make i've never heard of and not great in the wet. My normal go to choice is the Uniroyal RS3's, which i have the wifes and sons cars but been reading good things about the Hankook Ventus evo 2 tyre, similar price to the RS3's but score better in all the tests.

Bit of a theme going here. Ive just changed my Saab 9-5 for a 2010 mondeo TitX too! Good car so far.

What are these like to live with day to day? I've got an aging W204 C220 and i'm almost sure it's about to throw up some big bills. Looked at a few 2011/12 Tit x Sports, and they seem very, very nice.

Are seats comfy? mpg? etc

I'm planning on picking up a nearly identical one later this week! Even down to the Arnold Shark plates, but they will be getting replaced as a matter of urgency

Yeah the plates have gone.

As for the seats, plenty of adjustments but yet to find the perfect position, not helped by the fact my last 2 cars (530 and 9-5) had mega comfy seats.

MPG is at 41 at the moment which im happy with. Sure the smaller engine ones will do better but im glad i picked the 2.2, plenty of shove, very quiet engine (for a diesel)

Yes, it has had the Eibach lowering kit. Ford offered it as an option from the dealer, although this car had it put on at a later date. The 20s look great, but coupled with the suspension, they're are a bit too harsh over potholes. I'm currently on the look out for a set of 18s.

I had a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport 4s on my old Mk3 Mondeo which I found to be a good tyre. I've heard good things about the Uniroyal's, but that they wear down very quickly.

Nice car OP, I think I'll be in for a Mk 4 Mondeo once my Mk3 ST 2.2 has had enough, it's on 125k now and still going strong. I did have a Mk 4 Tit.X a few years ago but it was the lousy 1.8TDCi, 5 speed which was no where near gutsy enough, the rest of the car was perfect though.
