2004 Honda Integra Type R
Discussion
Some may remember my Nissan S15, it was a great car and the rwd+boost was amazing, but to use everyday it was a pig. So I chucked the towel in and returned to Honda
The Silvia..

Like the s15, I'm the first UK owner of this grade 4 Integra DC5. Had to register it myself (Torque GT) did it last time. Was straight forward enough but the wait for the reg. number was painful!
It's on 66k and is standard apart from the Kakimoto MegaN1 exhaust (ridiculous without the bung), it puts my old Spoon N1 system to shame that I had on my Civic.
Since being in my ownership i've had it alarmed, serviced and undersealed to keep it fresh. Had to also replace the middle section of the exhaust system as the baffles had gone in the box. Cybox (local) did a great job!
I sorted the hole in the center console with a nice double din, and removed the rear parked camera whilst I was at it. Bought new side decals too as one was peeling.

Got more things I want to do but sorted a house at the same time

Thanks guys!
The s15 was horrendously crunchy, a pain in traffic and really uncomfortable. If I was keeping it it would have needed a few bits like a better clutch for traffic (had a sports clutch in from Japan which was juddery beyond belief haha!).
Also made a healthy profit on the silva, even after what I bought for it.

Very nice. I've not driven a DC5, but loved the DC2 I drove.
Is it easier to live with than a stock S15?
Thanks! The DC5 feels great, and the handling is absolutely superb. Much easier to live with everyday! Is it easier to live with than a stock S15?
I had an EP3 Civic before the Silvia and the Integra feels like an improved version of that.
The Silvia - with the clutch, coilovers and s
te gearbox was not an ideal daily.

Welcome back to the Honda fraternity!
DC5 looks nice, white's a bit boring though eh?
I know exactly what you mean about the Silvia, my S14a was a pain to actually drive every day, the S15 isn't hugely improved. Glad you got good money for it!
Thanks mate but Champ white is the only real colour for a DC5 DC5 looks nice, white's a bit boring though eh?

Yup, I found the s15 was a real chore to drive at times.
The thing I found with having a S-body as a daily was that you felt it was trying to kill you most of the time, I remember driving to work one December morning after not having much sleep and it let go on a roundabout and I almost ploughed backwards through a sign. I decided it wasn't the car for me after that
CW is the real colour for any Type-R, then MR obviously

Ah yes, the unexpected step outs.

Many undies had to be changed during s-body ownership.

One I (and the Mrs
) will always remember was when it tried to kill going in a straight line...kayzee said:
Always loved these, especially in white... one of my favourite shapes of all Japanese cars to be honest
Don't think I'll ever get one though as prices remain so strong; though I did see a complete rotter last year going for £3,000!
It's definitely aged well for being 12 years old!

There's been quite a few nails for cheap floating around, would definitely stay away for £3k, hah.
Would dread to think what the arches and underneath look like. They need to be undersealed asap when they come in.
Not much happened so far.
Had a new secondary o2 sensor to put on and that turned the EML off. Not bad for a £15 ebay bargain!
Went for a blast round Wales, car performed as I thought it would.
Absolutely fantastic! The brakes gave me so much confidence.

Also bought a K Tuned pivot ball and spring. Made a huge difference!
This has eliminated all/any play in the shifter and it's great to grab a gear and just bang it in.
;)
Got rid of some more HDMI cables from the car too. The previous owner in Japan loved his gadgets! (4 HDMI cables and a rear camera).

Was a b
h of a job in the end but glad I took it on and for £25 it's a great/cheap mod!
Future plans are to get some springs or coilovers and maybe a Mugen wing.
Also want a Spoon N1 exhaust as I used to have one on my EP3.

Nice mods mate, I have a short shift on the EP3 and it makes a lot of difference!
Thanks mate. This isn't a short shift but it's made the world of difference.
Want to get a Tegiwa short shifter for it, or get the K-tuned shifter.
They would both make the box absolutely epic!
Stuff happened!
So, as a few of you may know. I was suffering from weird steering feel for a while. I ended up at Vtec-Direct to diagnose.
It was only a 30min drive away and they had a good rep for everything Honda. What a garage. Fantastic guys and I won't be going anywhere else for the bigger jobs.
They ended up diagnosing quite a few things including two buggered shocks (passenger front and rear), buggered lower control arm bushes, and movement in the shock due to a dodgy bolt...not sure how that happened. All of those combined meant my alignment was way off on one side.
So I ended up ordering some of these...

Yellowspeed coilovers.
Plus some bushes, Hardrace rear camber arms etc.
I arranged a date and left it at Vtec-Direct for a few days as it was getting some more underseal too!
This is how I picked it up

The alignment/set up is unreal. Even though its been wet you can tell the difference with turn in, flow through corners etc. It wants to take bends so quickly! Really happy with the Yellowspeed's. I ended up getting well over £100 off due to the xmas offers on Tegiwa.
The back looks ever so slightly lower than the front due to the front wheels being lost in the arches a little but the amount it went down is about 35mm front/30mm back.
Think i'll get some spacers next. Also looking at new exhaust systems and wheels! Got the bug again.
