2004 Mercedes C Class

Finally got something a little bit interesting and worth keeping a little bit of a dairy for.
Since 2008 we've had the billy basic 1.8 Vectra in Club spec...... We needed a car and that weekend it was the best car we had seen for £6k so we took the plunge.
Although amazingly boring and bland, there was just no real justification in swapping it. It never broke down, survived 2 kids and a dog, had a huge boot etc it was just an ideal family motor for hassle free motoring.
However, the rear suspension is knocking, a rattle coming from the engine which I suspect is the bearings from the alternator or something along those lines and front brakes need replacing before it's MOT later this month. However with working abroad for the next few weeks i won't have the time to sort it out.
My parents had picked up a new car a few months back and had left the old car sat on the drive, a quick call to the old man put the idea into my head that I should buy the old banger as a bit of a stop gap car until I return and either sort the Vectra out to continue it's family duties or to run it for a few months till after a career change later on in the year and get rid for something newer.
All in all, it's not a bad little upgrade and can certainly think of worst ways to spend £1000
Its the 2.7 Aventgarde auto. The cabin is a nice comfortable place to be compared to the Vectra and whilst not the fastest car in the world, its not slow either and makes overtaking a breeze.
There are a few little jobs that are needing done. It needs the front discs and pads changed but my old man supplied them as part of the sale and maybe some new tyres for the rear wheels but other than that it should do us for the foreseeable future.
Future plans include getting it booked in for a Terraclean session as everything I have read up seems to be positive and maybe if we decide to keep it, what option there are for a remap.
If anyone has one of these I would be interested to hear if there are things I need to keep an eye on etc and if anyone could point my it the right direction with regards to what options are available for listening to music via bluetooth? It does had this museum piece fitted as a factory option and wondered if it can be adapted in some way for music

I've got the facelift (late 2004) estate C270CDi - had it since it was 5mths old.
I don't use mine much these days so it hasn't got a lot of miles on it but the usual things go with age - suspension bushes (especially lower front arms) and brake pipes (especially the rears).
Many owners get the egr deleted and swirl flaps blocked.
Is your dad local and does he have someone who looks after the car? Much diagnosis really needs MB StarDiagnosis which only dealers and specialists have.
If you haven't already it's probably worth getting on the two main UK Merc forums - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums and http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk although they're getting less active with hands on work but there a few very good indies who contribute.
Toyed with dumping mine a few weeks ago but it's worth so little decided to hang on to it for now.

Yes, it changed with the facelift in mid 2004. Externally it's pretty hard to tell the difference but under the skin there were a lot of changes - the facelift model is regarded as a lot better, and it'll be fully galvanised and have nano paint.They're not worth a lot of money but they are quite sought after - especially the 5 cyl 270's.
As far as I know it's been maintained by his local Motosave garage but has been to a few specialists for the injectors and fuel pump refurb.
I will probably shift it on within the year as it really is just a stop gap car and I would rather have another hatchback or estate for ta king the dog to the woods etc.
