After taking Christmas and New Year to decide... Head finally agreed with heart that it was time for a new car.
I set myself some criteria -
- Under manufacturer warranty
- 1 series
- A Class 7G auto
- 208 GTI
You might wonder how the 208 gets in that list... Well my last two cars had been 208s and they are a decent return to form for Peugeot, well equipped but really needing more power than the everyday models I'd owned so far.
The A Class I liked the look of way sold before I got there, and I couldn't find a 1 series with leather like my old 120d.
Spotted a nearly new 208 GTI locally, Prestige model so with heated seats, glass roof and nav... A deal was done!
Some poor quality pics...

Car has best of both worlds. You can pootle along with the traffic and get just a couple of mpg less than the 1.2, firm but stable ride, comfy seats and all the toys...or... you can put your foot down and enjoy the action available from 1500rpm....come 3000rpm it really takes off!
No plans for the car other than to keep it clean and enjoy it!
I'd share some more pics but they are too big for thumbsnap and I'm posting on my phone.

The touchscreen isn't the best - the later ones are much better but it's far away from the likes of the one in the current Focus.
Looking forward to some better weather, barely a dry day since I got the car. I can see a few summer afternoons being lost with a bottle of Poorboys Black Hole and some quality wax...

i ran a 208 GTi prestige from may 2014 till last december. other than a slightly quite engine/exhaust, i thought it was perfect. quick, comfortable, usable, well equipped, i honestly say i loved that car. its true what you said reference it being a return to form for peugeot, and a mate of mine has recently upgraded to the new peugeot sport 208 gti and reckons its much sharper and all together better. i had mine in satin white, one of my favourite car colours, as it looks so much deeper than standard flat white (although, at £980, it isn't cheap) if i were buying one now it would be the Coupe Franche half red/black combination. hope you have many happy, rapid and "3 wheeled" miles (tip it into a roundabout with a bit of gusto and if yours is anything like mine, it'll go into tripod mode
)

that panoramic roof is definitely worth the upgrade to prestige trim IMO

Satin paint in all its glory

hope you enjoy yours as much as i did mine mate

My mum has a diesel XY model in a dark metallic Purple, she loves it so far after 30 months of ownership she's had all four wheels refurbished due to the dreaded white worming and I noticed that the leather on the top of the passenger seat is wearing where the release for the rear passenger entery has scuffed the leather really badly, having a feel of the handle the quality is very bad,not smooth at all.
