1994 Pulsar GTI-R and friends

Hi guys

This is our latest purchase, a 1994 Nissan Pulsar GTI-R, it was imported into New Zealand from Japan by an old fella about 4 years ago but he never had time to use it, instead of storing it inside he kept it outside under a carport, the NZ sun is not kind to paintwork, the paintwork will be brought back to life easily enough though.

Great thing about this car is the mileage, only just over 28,000km.

Unoriginal things include a nasty cheap pod filter, the white wheels, strut brace and a different steering wheel. All will be changed for standard items when I find them. Except maybe the steering wheel, as the original steering wheel on the last of the GTI-R's were quite rank.

It still has the factory radio as well as the the optional rear speaker which is pretty huge!

We also have a R32 GT-R with sub 20,000km since new, seen here with our R35:






And then finally our R33 GT-R project car, imported it from Japan and it is as rusty as a rusty thing but the car is completely original down to the factory radio.

That Pulsar is a blast from the past, my mate had one just the same, with that speaker thing on the parcel shelf. What a cracker!

Been and gone mate, sold it to fund some other life stuff, was also a stock standard car, 1999 non-Vspec car, had done 70,000km when we sold it:

I have a real urge for a white GTI-R at the moment; combined with the R32, i'm a jealous man right now.

Those wheels are Sprinthart CPF's incase you were looking to move them on, period correct wheels for the car really.

Pulsars were the holy grail of hot hatches in the early 90s. Nothing else was remotely in the same ball park performance wise. I remember just being in awe of them.

Think what else was still available new then and supposedly 'hot'...205/309 GTI, Mk2 Golf GTI, Nova/Astra GTE, RS Turbo, 5 Turbo......all 70-100 bhp down on the Pulsar and at least 2 seconds slower to 60!

I have much want to own one for a while. Decent ones £8k ish now though.

Yeah they are awesome cars, I had a red car in my younger days too, but butchered it into a track car with full cage etc, it was an early car which had an umbrella, the later ones like the black one, maybe 1993 onwards didn't have the umbrella.

Honestly I would prefer a white one too, but I just couldn't refuse the black car considering its overall condition and mileage.

Thanks for the info on the wheels, thought they may be period correct, but would like set of factory alloys even if I don't end up fitting them, maybe just for shows.

I think they would have been the absolute bomb back in 1990, still reasonably quick by today's standards too.

Reckon their prices will slowly increase as there are not many original examples remaining, everyone that had them seems to have modified them in some way.
