Another economical car for me.

That the 540i then? I clicked on your profile earlier randomly and saw it but couldn't get the pic to work. Nice to see it, like that shape 5 series a lot ever since reading a test when they first came out in TopGear magazine where they drove an old one to spain to get the new one. Very nice car mate, how many miles on it? I presume they sail past the 150,000 mark?

Hi Rob,
Thanks, it is the sort of car that does everything well. I bought it from Dave, a fellow ph'er as he prefers the manual version. Personally I find the steptronic is my preference, as it suits the car to perfection - yes, it guzzles a bit more than the manual, something must give I suppose.
Saying that, it so far is no thirstier than my 523i, which I suppose, driven enthusiatically had to work harder.
Mine has 130k on it, a sum that may seem high, but in such an unstressed engine, with v.regular oil changes and servicing is spot on. I would think it will fly past 150k.
I have owned lots of cars, this one is the best, granted, the jag ran it close, but I reckon only an XJR will beat it.
I most certainly would advocate anyone buying one.
