Hi all,

Having owned many NA, turocharged and screaming petrols in my time, I recently bit the bullet and bought a senssible diesel for the trip to and from work. Don't laugh, but I bought a Skoda Fabia VRS.
As standard it is a pocket rocket. It uses the 130bhp, 229 lb.ft turbo diesel VW engine, but in a lighter car gives excellent performance.
Then you "optimise" the performance and end up with 180bhp and 305lb.ft In gear acceleration is WOW, top speed reads 150 on the clock and 0-60 is around 7 seconds. And average fuel consumption? 48mpg... I rest my case.

I still need the motorbike for high revving thrills, but diesel engines are really coming on.

I just find them more reliable.
Always starts, always gets me there, always gets me home.
Costs f-all to run.

Oh, and they're not slow anymore.

Why would anyone want a petrol Focus (RS aside) the TDCi is faster & much more fuel efficent. A twin turbo a-la new BMW 535d would make it superb (better low down grunt).
