Matt,

I really enjoyed owning the Skyline - it was a great car, very quick, great handling, but at the same time fairly practical and very reliable.

However, the reliability will depend on how the car has been tuned, ie: to what level and how it has been done. My car was perfect for fast road and track use at 393bhp.

You can tune them as high as you like, as long as your wallet can cope, but make sure that the work is done in the right order. You could tune your car to 600bhp, if it's done well you can drive round a track all day, done badly and it'll blown up after ten laps.

Having said all that I eventually sold the Skyline last year and got a BMW M5 for road use (what an engine!), and a Porsche 968CS for track. The Skyline was very good on the track, but I found the computers were doing more driving than me. I wanted to get back to basics, and learn to drive properly, hence the 968.

If you've got any other questions, try the "Jap Car" forum, as there are a few other Skyline owners on here. Good luck in your hunt for a Skyline!
