New Cayenne S V8 Diesel

My wife's xmas present to herself.

Got to drive 100 miles back home this eve on quiet roads. This thing is QUICK, and I dont just mean for an SUV. 850n of torque from 2k, and 385bhp.

Deeply impressed. Also only 5mpg behind the v6 diesel it replaces at 30mpg for a "Spririted" drive.

It was. Absolutely top fella. Sadly he wasn't working yesterday so I didn't get to meet him, but the experience was excellent and the deal was great. (well it was for us!!). Top marks for Portsmouth - will be back there. Hadn't actually twigged how close it was to us..

Is this a new engine in the Cayenne range? I find their engines and model names hard to work out.

The S Petrol is now a V6 Supercharged - didnt sound as nice, prefer the delivery of the V8 S.

Petrol has 35bhp more, but loses THREE HUNDRED Lb of torque (550 v 850), and combined fuel is worse on the petrol by about 5mpg. 0-60 better on the diesel (marginally), as are residuals. No brainier (IMHO)>

Looks great fella ! I already thought you had one from the Cayenne Diesel thread. Everyone thinks they're petrol V8s, the burble at idle and when you pull away is just a deep V8 sound. They're such a great car, Porsche have been very clever in making the pre-facelift look stale against the new ones.

I spotted my first Macan the other day and it just did not have the presence or looks of the Cayenne.

plenty of £££££ with everything on one of these but as a multiple Ferrari owner told me "There's no pockets in a shroud"

It's not my cup of tea but Porsche have finally got the hang of making them look half decent; the rear end looks good. Black is a decent colour for it.

Revs pretty freely but anything over 2k and you are flying

I've not driven anything with that kind of torque really. Is it brutal!!?
