Hi All,
Great to get on such a diverse car forum, lots and lots of build threads to read!!
I come from a predominantly Honda background, both my Civic with Japanese Integra R motor and then onto my Japanese DC2 Integra shown below. Both built from stock. Had a little go at some skidding but i just found it a bit boring (sorry). My heart will always be in grip. 325 E36 was good fun, MX5s and S2000s taught me a hell of a lot. Worst car i have driven was a Micra with a Blade engine in the boot, that thing just wanted to kill everyone. Found R32 GTRs very nice to drive but a little too heavy for my liking. Loved the EVO 5 RS's and still need a proper go in an e46 M3 which i am very fond of>>

Unfortunately the Integra had to go to a new home a few months back for something a little more demanding. I was finding the ITR too predictable and needed to push myself onto other things. When you can loose grip at 125mph down craner curves and don't bat an eye lid you know it's time for a change haha!
So, where do I begin, I am now the VERY lucky owner of a brand new (well 2 hours use) MK Indy RR factory built race car. I was set to build one myself new but when this came up at a good price it was a no brainer. Especially as me and a friend are building an F20C SR2 at the moment, we just wouldn't of had the time. The spec is huge and I will no doubt forget many, many things but I will try my best to detail all the parts etc. Plans include to add number plates so I can drive on road, get a black nose to replace the yellow one although it's no biggy, flat bottom engine bay with carbon splitter, rear diffuser. Long term plans, I would love to F20C it on Jenvey's
, but if anyone knew my ITR build, it was more focused around using it over anything else so my main plans are to track the sh#t out of it

First outing in the RR at Blyton went very well. Was faultless all day and so confidence inspiring. NEVER have i driven a car that wanted to work with the driver and please SO MUCH! Thank you to Ron for all his support, it was great seeing him flying round in the MK. It is in need of a proper ATB but other than that i am so happy with it. Bring on Cadwell and Oulton in the next few weeks.

Surprisingly similar too our caterham. Bout the same weight, and have a 1.8 zetec on weber 40s through a type 9 with Kent cams. We put in a longer 1st gear.
We got 125 at the wheels out if ours, or 155/160 crank depending on who you listen to.
What's you rev limit set at? And how does it perform? Ours is a cracking engine, really lively after 4000rpm and makes an incredible noise. Got to love those carbs.
We were gonna book on at oulton soon too. Nice car

Wow that does sound very similarly spect! Nota clue what it revs out at but data logger has top speed reading of 126 so I know it will at least do that. Yes I love the noise but must admit coming from a 9k RPM screaming B18C-R with a 115DB reading it isn't quiet as pleasurable to the ears as that was, although I am over that kind of silly loud nonsense, it just hinders you when you want to get on any circuit day, I found myself swapping to an OEM backbox and used my spoon N1 race system for road use only, complete waste of time ahha! Here is a vid of Blyton skipped to the outboard footage. I love the weird noise it makes off throttle. Power, slam on brakes, turn in, little bit of tyre squeal, apex, straight on power again
>>

Yeah it rockets up past 4K to just over 7k rpm. Took a few laps to adjust to the lower rev range h+t 1/2 second later which gave me less time to set up for the corner entries but my god I love it and by the end of the day i was getting silky pitching the rear end round under braking to point the nose at the apex etc, not once did it feel like it was doing anything but working with me
. For the performance i can't think of much you can buy for the same minuscule running costs.
Is it sad that i have matching boots
>>

Looking at the HSA hillclimb series but at the moment i just want to get as much seat time for my money as possible.

Another Incredible day at Blyton. Really feeling the limits of the car now, progressively shortening my braking zones and carrying more speed through corners to the point I am trail braking and pitching the car broad sliding into bends comfortably. No spins but a few squirmy moments under very heavy braking, even when the car would looses grip at 115mph it felt brilliant. Was great to take Dev out to experience the insanity of this thing! Unbelievably quick and mind blowing to drive! Will be fitting the ARBs as it just rolls a bit too much for my liking, should be great as it will keep it flat through the corners but not affect the compliance of the shocks when I run over bumps/curbs etc.
Bring on Cadwell and Oulton!!

Hey Guys,
Bit of an update after a while offline!
Lots has happened but i will try to be brief.
I have decided to not go for the F20C set up i had been building. I will build that up for something with a roof in years to come. Maybe an E30 but that is way off. I just noticed that the engines have become much more sought after so i secured one now.
The reason for this is unfortunate i am afraid. On the 13.4.2014 i lost a very good friend. He came off his CBR1000RR on a ride out up the Cat & Fiddle with another good mate in a tragic accident which 999/1000 he should of walked away from. He was a petrol head in every way, aiming to compete in bike club racing this year on the Honda. He died doing what he loved most with his friend right next to him, certainly some comfort in that!! He has kindly left me the bike which we have all come to the decision to fit Dev's 2010 cbr1000RR bike motor into the MK in hope that in years to come i will be able to win a few races in his name. Hope to have all installed for spring 2016.
Few bits done to the MK. Currently fitting a Quiafe ATB and upgraded the FD to a 3.9 unit. This should be done in time for Cadwell on July 4th. The MK is finally on the road too! I have loved drives out over to North Wales and up the Cat & Fiddle for Dev's one year memorial in the pissing wet! No cover meant i had to bucket the water out of my seats too haha! A cockpit cover was ordered the next day! Luckily i already had a set of 13" AD021 wets mounted on TDs so i just whacked them on!
Still been trying to get out as much as possible in the toys. Few vids and pics below from a few great days over the last 12 months>>

Hey Gents,
Long time no post! Hope all is well and you are getting lots of seat time in! Finally got the car on the road!

ANGLESEY MK INDY RR
Had a brilliant 2015 and hope you had a gooden too. Nothing goes to plan and things go wrong but understanding that this is absolutely fine has made me so much happier these days. The MK has been ok but spent most of the year without a drivetrain in place. Finally got it road legal and have had some great runs up the Cat and Fiddle in it in the pissing wet and some more fun dry days. Glad to report the AD021 Wets are fabulous girving great feedback and nice amount of sidewall flex perfect for road driving. I have yet to need them on a track day but better to have a spare set of wheels with wets on as the AD048s are a bit sketchy in the wet lol! I had a great day with Revelation Motorsport in an LMP (Radical) style car and my MK at Anglesey early in the year where we dialed in the MKs suspension settings. After changing the car for every session during most of the morning we settled on almost equal damping F/R, with it set at 10 out of 13 on exponentially scaled dampers and it felt brilliant. If you wanted it to lift off over steer and just generally over steer all the time you can add the rear ARB with just one bolt but this is more for fun then making the car faster. The end of the day saw my go in the LMP car. Had a great day and learnt a hell of a lot...

CADWELL
After a week rushing round to get the car up to spec I was knackered. I had the Quiafe ATB LSD and a new 3.9 FD installed with refreshed bearings at MK in Yorkshire. I set off Wednesday night after work and got caught in major traffic. After a three hour drive to get to M1 I realised it was because M1 was shut so i headed home empty handed. Thursday i do the same journey and get the diff, get home at 12pm and then spend an hour fitting diff in the MK.
Friday after work pick up trailer, load car, load spares, tools etc and drive to Lincolnshire to my mate Matt's Mums house (Matt, me and his bro Dan all own a MX5 together but more on that in a mo). The track day comes round and i am shattered. Have fun unloading car as some b
d robbed one of my ramps so i had to make some ghetto fab ones On the spot. So get one sighting lap session in and then I go out with Matt at the helm and wow does he know Cadwell. My go next and with Matts new advice I go out very confident right up to the throttle jamming open into barn! Ah well crack on... I start to push a little more and as I pass a Westfield I touch the grass like an idiot. Luckily i manage to correct it and give a thumbs up for camera at 90mph haha. The next session i wanted to tighten up my sloppy over-driving so i go out more chilled. But no, sadly a carburetor float broke a brasing and flooded the whole car and surrounding few meters in petrol right on the track entry!!! Lucky or what! Day ended, pack up and go home to Matts with a smile because Donington in two days.

MISSION MOTORSPORT DONINGTON
After a Sunday chilling out fitting pads and servicing Matts F20C MX5 in prep for Donington we admit defeat on getting the MK ready in time for tomorrows Donington outing with no local motorfactors having such old gen parts. To celebrate the successful pad fitting we go out for a blat in the MX5. The car was brilliant, but the Subway I ate for lunch was just a touch better haha :P. Donington the next day was incredible. Must thank the MX5 guys and Mission Motorsport for a great day. Met some true gents. Had a few laps in the 991 911 GT3 which made Dony feel like a single width B road! The older gent in the 944 CL was a true old school peddler and so great to watch him be so aggressive and yet remain so balanced, which clearly just comes with massive amounts of seat time. Matts MX5 was ballistic with some very talented dude behind the wheel made the track his own within a few hours of laps...

CADWELL IN THE F20MX5
A few weekends pass and we are back in Lincs for Matts track day in the MX5. He has a new Voltex BFW (Big Functional Wing) to try out along with a new geo set up to try out. We get their nice and early and i got to do the sighting laps as i had never driven car. The exhaust scared the s
t out of me as it vibrated against the chassis, i thought i had broken it already haha! Matt instantly assured me it was normal. I then watch Matt and his bro do a session each and the car is looking great although both are unsure on the new geo. I then have a session. The car felt really good, very interesting after the MK only a few weeks ago. Most notably the part of the track under the new bridge on the run up to the mountain. The bumpy section there never effected the MK but the mass of the MX5 makes the car feel much more floaty and unpredictable. The car sounds amazing and the power is so good. The brakes felt ample and overall balance of the car was great. After my go it was time for Matt to test the wing set up and to everyone's surprise it was effective. The rear end felt much more planted on some of the higher speed stuff Matt confirmed.

Had a great time at the Drift Matsuri this year too in Niks JZX and Karls V10 powered Nissan Laurel which felt so smooth and composed being so long skidding round Anglesey.

So with a phone call from Danny at MK saying he has a buyer for the Zetec set up i think go for it! I had a bit of bad luck when going out for a drive over North Wales In Summer where at last minute I change my mind and go for a hoon in a mates Toyota JZX90 and another mates Supercharged straight 6 Lexus. We go for a 12 hour drive and when we get back at 1am i start my MK and drive 2 meters off my mates drive when clunk. The gearbox breaks!! I have to nurse it back in third without stopping!!! I was tired of the issues so sold the complete setup after a full gearbox rebuild. I have since sold the CBR bike and kept loom, ecu, engine and box, airbox etc etc. I have also had a custom made billet sump made with Titanium oil pick up and baffle plate. Also received an airbox mod kit which allows you to turn the oem airbox around 180 degrees and resequence the secondary injectors. This means you can sit the airbox in the middle of the V between cylinder head and gear box and allow a single forward facing entry for an air feed. Other than that i have water pump blanks, a HRC stiffer clutch diaphram as clutch need to feel a bit meatier now it will be had operated on a billet shifter. I have a 3.1 diff to be built, electric water pump. Hope to have it off to MK for final stages of install soon.

THE GREEN MACHINE
So with the MK out of action for the next few months, Dan's K20 Westfield also being built and Matt currently supercharging his F20MX5 we decide we also need a spare toy while we fettle with our own individual projects. We need something cheap and reliable. Something we can drive to and from track days on a whim and just enjoy for cost effective good times! Matt spotted a good base. A MK2 MX5 with a very subtle respray. It used to be a very so slightly darker BRG (which i would of loved) to this Kawaski green you see below. Luckily I think that is why we got it so cheap. 70K miles, 1.8 140HP motor, new MiesterRs, TRLane roll bar, wheel and some posh looking shiny wheels. We instantly sell the posh shiny wheels for good money for two sets of TDs. One 13'' Pro Race 2s on DMacks and the other 15'' on R1Rs. We then flat the floor, fit a pair of Corbeaus, harnesses, give to Blink to do full geo and do full brake refresh with Axxis Ultimate pads, good fluids and blank discs. We then realize the roll bar has been set up like a mouse trap with only two bolts used!! Luckily an hour in the garage saw it right! Oulton was brilliant fun in the wet/drying conditions and we all got a session in each before we had to call it a day due to wheel studs snapping! Dan had a great battle with a Nissan Duke R FFS hhaahaha! I just set some fairly average laps in to get reaquinted with track conditions and the car which imho had too much brake pedal travel and Matt got a session in when once again we just felt out the conditions and car behavior. Matt and his bro that evening frantically drove to Preston to get new studs in time for Anglesey on the Sunday. Anglesey saw us staying in the top of a lighthouse looking thing when a mega storm kicked off outside! Unfortunately Dan couldn't make it so it was me and Matt. The next morning luckily weather was ok but wind was mega still. Luckily we had a garage so all was well. Was great seeing us two in the garish MX5 next to the Radical haha. The day was going very well, we had some brilliant laps where we could be on the limit skidding about and yet still chatting and laughing. The car needs more front camber (something we are sorting at mo with camber bushings for top arm). The car would wash out unless you trail braked into the corner loading up the front axle. Not only that but it would over heat quickly if we didnt short shift so the already under powerd (compared to our other toys) car didn't boil in a few laps. The 5k RPM challenge was born and i had a very fun battle with a 318 e30. The day was called short when the rear crank seal started leaking. We limped home and forgot all about cars while we enjoyed Christmas. The MX5 is currently having leak fixed, a 4.6 FD fitted, an alloy rad, silicone hoses and the camber items sorted. We hope to get a track day in soon. I have just booked Nurburgring with Neil in April. I am driving over in the MX5 to do a week of Tourist days and watch the VLN race! Cant wait! Other than that I sold the Impreza, I loved that thing on AD08Rs and ds2500 pads but it was getting tired. I now have an Accord Type S as a new daily. Am tempted to lower it and buy Mugen lip but must save money for more important bits! The GREEN paint will be going black ASAP too!
Matt, Dan, Will (me)

Anyways here's to a good 2016!

Things are progressing guys!!! All in on cradle with prop shaft made. Exhaust all done, coolant lines all hard piped and an electric water pump installed too. Fuel lines in place with a facet pump feeding a swirl pot with the CBR pump in the bottom. Billet gear shifter, throttle cables and clutch lines done. Few little bits to sort before mapping and wiring at end of May!

Heading to Nurburgring on Thursday for a week in the MX5. Got a larger alloy rad on it and replaced the old rad lines and heater matrix with silicone as i know they are prone to splitting. Solid diff mounts with a new 4.6FD to make a little more use of the 140HP. Have front camber bushes to go on asap too.
Had a bit of a nightmare with the whole thing to be honest recently. A lot of things pointing to the previous owner being a little bit of an idiot! Had an intermittent oil leak plague me for a good while which turned out to be a missing O-ring on a dipStick holder grrr!! Then some horrid hesitation issue and the motor just lagging performace. After checking, MAF, coilpacks, plugs, leads, batt, then replaced fuel filter when we found a fuel line that was bent over on itself!!! Reset ECU too and seems to be a little better. Does it a bit when cold but once warm it seems ok! Spent the weekend wrapping the thing so i can be a little less inconspicuous but run out of time to do bumpers...
