BMW might be less than happy to replace the engine under warranty if they knew you'd had it chipped.
You can hear the cries of void warranty from here!

Just thought you might like to ammend your profile and keep it quiet.

I thought that too.

Interesting figures from the chip itself, especially the (supposed) massive increase in torque. Were these proven on a rolling road or anything?

Presumably I could do the same with my E320 CDi at some point in the future (when the warranty expires).

oops! Valid point..... The article I originally read in CCC featured a chap who'd had it put in virtually from new and stated "there have been no warranty issues"..... and he was very public about it (there should also be an article in Total BMW this month)

and it was only when they came to take the engine out and disconnected the main earth that they spotted it. Its invisible to the Diagnostics and so on...

It can be fitted to any diesel with Bosch EMS and common rail injectors, so, yes, you can have it added to your 320 (at any time - it takes about 20 mins to fit/take out before/after servicing).

No, I haven't had the figures verified on the rollers for my car, but it is something I plan to do at some point. There were several "suppliers" of chip who all stated that their development has been checked on rolling roads, so I do tend to believe (gullible - who, me??)and all around the same figure. And it feels awesome when you plant your right foot in second off a roundabout.. If you're ever up this way and want a quick demo, drop me a line, I'll be happy to oblige.

Next thing is a new exhaust, for a further 15hp and 20lbft... Xmas pressie!

It would be interesting to compare the 330D with the E320CDi - a friend has an E330D Touring which made me seriously consider one. The E class is that much heavier so performance is probably dulled - then again it has 200cc more to play with.

When I get bored with the performance as it is (I've only just finished running it in) I'll look into these chip things. I assume they just increase boost.

Nope - its a complete (?) boost and fuelling thing - check out the DMS website (link on previous post). If you thought the 330D Touring was good, then this will be an eye-opener.

As an example (their quoted figures) C220CDi from 143Hp to 173Hp and 315Nm to 370Nm.. gotta be worth a call.....
