At this stage I cant comment, as such; but I will speculate, that an XJR-S must be reassuringly torquey, rapid, handle great and feel smoothe. Now that I have a real idea of what the 6 should be running like.

Hi Jim,

Just read your other thread - I'm pleased to see yours is startining to shape up.

As for mine it's hard to say how it compares as I've never driven an XJS with the straight six engine (just an XJ6 which handles like a boat).

What I do recall however is when I first drove mine I took it up Blackstone Edge Road which is my usual test track and with what it was like to drive my 400se in mind (having recently taken quite a few people on test drives up there) I remember thinking that suprisingly the Jag would probably murder the 400 in most conditions.

The auto box does annoy me sometimes when I think of how much more you could get out of it if it was manual but I wouldn't change it as it's also great when it comes to comfortable touring and I like to keep my cars pretty original.
As for torque - I think is probably is pretty phenominal, to perform like it does with just three gears must need a lot of muscle.

The handling is something I'm working on as you probably know. The sport modifications where done by TWR and they should know what they're doing, although being such a big car It'll never be as sharp as the TVR.
It's booked in with Steve next week to have all it's bushes replaced and I'm hoping it will feel as fresh as the day it left the factory.

You're more than welcome to pop round and give it a try sometime Jim
