New to the site, think its great and hope you guys can help.

I'm heading to the alps to spend a season in Val D'Isere and need a new car to get me, a mate and a load of gear there. I'm after something that is ideally 4x4 for the snowy conditions and big enough to haul a lot of gear. I'll be heading back to the UK a couple of times during the season so ideally I'm looking for something thats not too heavy on the juice.

Thoughts so far include:-

A4 Avant 2.5TDi Quattro
Subaru Forester S-Turbo

My last car was a Porsche 968 Sport so I don't want to lose too much in terms of pace!!

Any Ideas?!?!

I'm assuming brand new? If so, go for the Audi.
If you're buying secondhand, err go for the Audi.

Not that i'm biased at all, but the weasel engine will be better on fuel and it's a far better car anyway.

Thanks, I'm going for second hand - Want to minimise depreciation. My Brother had the weasel audi and raves about it! Just wanted to see if there are any others that I haven't thought about.

Alfa 156 Sportswagen 2.4 JTD?? - Think the cold weather and long journeys might prove to be just too much for an Italian Car
