I have made up my mind as what to buy (well nearly only these 2 left?)to carry me,wife & 3 kids on the occasional journey.
My price range £22k will get me either of these cars M5 or Holden, has any P/H had one of these (or even both) to help me spend my hard earned cash.
The general opinion seems to be the m5 is excellent for quality, resale, goodies. But i looked in auto trader & noticed holden with 475 bhp (i would want proof of this as i think that 400 is nearer!)which appeals to me.
Also i like the fact that it has an american engine as i have seen a few new ones in m5 at low milage which is a worry!
But i dont know much about holden reiliabilty/quality?

I own a sports car dealership, but whenever anyone asks me the one car I would have for myself if only allowed one car (i also have kids!) I always say M5. The Holden may have more power, but the M5 thrashes it for style, road holding, desirability and finish. For little more than the price of a new mini cooper S I know what I would buy! The best all round vehicle I have ever owned.

Thanks
Sounds like a good car,do you know anything about the engines, as i have seen a few advertised with new engine's at only 70K??

I won the dealership but I am not a dealer! However my understanding is that the most common problems are a couple of the sensors neither of which should command an engine change. M5's are high performance engines and do consume oil, and like anything that operates under stress if you don't look after it, it won't look after you. Easiest solution is to either buy a car with a warranty or if funds don't allow then ask any vendor what kind of oil they put in it. If they don;t know then they haven;t been looking between services...

Sounds good
I think M5 is the way to go,looks a big car, had a good look at one yesterday .Shame the M3 is more money as they look better!!
