hi guys, this is my first post.
just wanna say hi.
i have owned a 156 for the past 8 weeks, well its the best car i have ever driven, ive had bmw's, merc's, all the usual cars, but this....it blows me away.
i am aiming to get the GT in a couple of years, test drove one, brillient!
my 156 is on an X 2000, i was luck, as it had loads of extras on it, leather, climit, etc.. getting the top spec 2nd hand, great value.
as this is my first alfa, could you guys give me any advice, matbe tell me things that could go wrong etc..
i look forward to hearing from you.
bye for now.

Glad yo like it, i had a 164 1993,lovely car the problems i had was mot stuff, electrics & not as well made or put together like the german/swedish stuff.
Maybe as yours is newer the build quality is better,i hope so!!
Is your alfa 4 door(any good for 3 kids) as i dont know the new models, & what sort of bhp is it?

hi,
i only have one child, so plenty of room for her. but i would think 3 kids would manage, the back is the size of a vectra type size car.
interier build quality, not as good as the bmw, the cover for my seat belt keeps popping off, but i don't let that get in the way of this beautiful car.
i think it is 145bhp, i will have to check.
thanks for the reply.

Just bought a 156 Sportwagon (2 litre Veloce) for Mrs Twin Turbo. Very happy with it so far. Best looking 5-door car on the market, if you ask me.

Lookout for front suspension bush problems (creaking noises). Apparantly they go every 25-30,000 miles.....and ours need doing!!!

Hired 2 of these last year (cavalier was written off, rx-7 hadn't landed!). 1st was the 2.0 t-spark and the other the 2.0 JTS.

Really impressed with the t-spark (it had @7k miles on it). Very responsive and good handling. Engine noise was nice too. Interior was pretty cool but didn't like the rough finish on the dash.

The JTS only had delivery miles on it and felt a bit unresponsive. Thrashed it mercilessly for a weekend and apart from it dieing 1st time I hit the rev limiter it was pretty good.

If I was going to get a sensible car I'd have an RX-8 (addicted to rotaries) but he 156 would be my 2nd choice.

Had one as a company car.

Was in the garage more than on the road, various problems from rear brakes siezing (three times), starter motor failing, rear trailing arms replaced twice in 12k miles, steering wheel covering peeling, paint flaking off, used to blow headlamp bulbs every few weeks, exhaust manifold gasket blaking (gave up having that fixed after the third time)one spark plugs broke off in the head, needed an oil filed to keep up with the oil consumption.

Would I have another? no, after I gave up on it I remebered why I got rid of the Alfa 75 and the 33 Sports Wagon.
