Any ideas on what car next? got 3 young kids(so they can squeeze in smallish gaps)& want to buy something for about £20k,only needs to be used weekends/eves as we have another car.Need something fast, looks good semi-reliable.Got a 300zx twin turbo which has been good with small seats at the rear & pretty fast.Thinking of 911 porsche, tvr cerb,M5,soooooo many cant make mind up,any guys think they know the ultimate which they have been happy with for a while (not to bothered about age)???

I hate MPV's but I reckon you could justify a zavifa Gsi.

Having got two young kids, we've dispensed with all our fast cars as a) we don't want to drive on a qualifying lap with them in the car b) their little heads don't half roll about in the car seats and I reckon they will have to grow up with a Mike Tyson neck to stand the G-Forces. Thats our choice.

Two of your choices however are only 4 seaters (911, Cerbera), no centre belts. Do you really want to put your centre positioned child in just a lap-belt? No I thought not, so you're probably looking at a super-saloon or a Japanese Rally special not an out and out sportscar. These will also allow you to carry the associated child clobber with ease.

So my recommendations to look at are:-

Impreza Turbo
EVO VI onwards
Audi S8 - A surprisingly nimble car (safe too)
BMW M5
Mercedes E class - AMG jobbie??
Jaguar XJR

But you might be best just buying a bike for yourself or a Caterham and just going out when you want the speed kick and not try to do it with all the family

Thanks for reply
No i dont want to hammer about with them in,but i sometimes like to on my own & other times i need to ferry them about (there ages are 6,7,& 10 so they are not in baby seats)I did think about evo thing but that is just fast & not the sort of nice looking car i.e. jaguar sounds nice but a little bit of an old man's car. Have thought about merc/M5 but again dont know about the look again?

I am one of four children and back in the mid 80's (ie, when I wasn't 6'2") all six of us used to cram into a Porsche 944 - three in the back and the smallest in the boot. I suppose however you wouldn't get away with that these days.

M3 or M5 would be my choice

In a similar thinking moment, my thoughts were drawn to a new Maserati Quatroporte.

HSV. There's a couple on Autotrader at around 20k
You'd get a Skyline R33 too.

Nope, just out, I've never even seen one on the road let alone any for sale second hand, and they're £69,995.

I have seen the HSV, are they Holden? If thats the car you are on about they have 4 doors & V8, sounds quite good but they are up there price wise with M5's.
Dont know if the hsv is that good?
