Hi all

bit of a newbie to the forums here, but was looking for some ideas and what to buy. I am after a new (not brand new) car and have a budget of around £14,000. I was looking at a Civic Type R (should be test driving it this weekend). Having read so many mixed reviews about having to constantly thrash it etc to get the best out of it. I was wondering what you guys might suggest as an alternative to the Type R, something that will give similar performance etc.

Cheers

How many doors? How many seats? How luxurious? How economical?

I'd be tempted to stretch to 16k and get a Cooper S, if only for the residiuals... (God, I must be getting old...)

Nearly new...

On the other hand, if it was my money I'd spank it on a 964, so don't listen to me

3 doors (if you include the luggage bay), 4 seats (just)... Fit's the bill perfectly I reckon!

That's why my 'sensible' car is a 540i Touring E34 rather than a new Perodua Nippa for the same money.

Wise choice that man! Been thinking about one of those myself recently, but couldn't see any decent 6-speeders about...
