BMW 528SEi

I have a 528sei as my day to day car, but a have had a problem with the stereo which looses its setting, ie i have to reset the volume (from maximum), balance and fade every time i switch the car on.

Now short of taking this to BM and have them charge me a fortune for taking the unit out and sending it off to be fixed, is there anyone out there who knows how to reprogram this standard BM fitted stereo. It is a 96 five, bog standard stereo cassette / cd changer system, nothing too complicated.

Anyone any ideas?

Sounds like the power supply to the unit's being cut every time you turn the engine off.

Might get a better response in the BMW section, or even a BMW specific board - this section doesn't seem to get very much traffic
